  • Long Beach City Beach

    The main beach in the LBC is Long Beach City Beach. Pre-1940s the beach was home to huge breakers and became the mecca for longboarders. Then the city built breakwaters, which may be a big bummer for surfers but creates the ideal family and swimmers beach with sandy shores and calm waters. Along the long stretch of south-facing beach, you will find Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier to the east and Bluff Park that stretches parallel almost the entire length of the beach.
  • RMS Queen Mary

    The RMS Queen Mary, permanently rests in the Queensway Bay as a retired ocean liner from Great Brittian. Active from 1936 to 1967, the ship now serves as a floating museum. During World War II, the RMS Queen Mary was assigned to ferry Allied soldiers and converted to a troopship. Once the war ended, she was refitted once again as a passenger ocean liner. The Queen Mary, along with the RMS Queen Elizabeth, operated as a two-ship service for transatlantic passengers.

    A 5-acre, public aquarium on Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach is The Aquarium of the Pacific is a popular family vacation destination. The aquarium boasts over 100 exhibits and 19 major habitats with a focus on the importance of aquatic life and marine conservation. Exhibitions include frogs, jellyfish, penguins, sea otter habitat, shark lagoon, a lorikeet forest, interactive media and 3D displays, and galleries. Kids of all ages, yes, that means you too dad, will enjoy the interactive, hands-on opportunities and educational experiences the aquarium has to offer on your Long Beach visit.

  • Fine dining

    The secret is out that Long Beach has become a culinary destination that will not fail to delight. As restaurant overhead rises in Los Angeles, young talent and newcomers find themselves being price out of the market -- that has been good news for Long Beach. Previously only local foodies knew the secret city gems. Boathouse on the bay is a steakhouse with seafood and sushi as well. La Opera is a wine bar with upscale Italian.     The LBC's Downtown area is a hot destination spot for vacationers and locals looking for a laid back experience compared to the L.A. nightlife scene. With a few spots near the beach, Long Beach's nightlife is mainly along Pine Avenue. For a safe night hop on one of the many party buses that run along Pine from 4th Street to Shoreline Village. You will find bars, clubs, live music, and restaurants. Many of these clubs have launched the musical careers of the likes of Snoop Dogg and Warren G to Sublime and The Mars Volta.
