Southwest Vacations® Travel Protection

Valid for all U.S., Mexico, and Caribbean destinations.

Help protect your vacation from the unexpected with Southwest Vacations Travel Protection. Southwest Vacations offers this option to help you know your vacation deposits are protected from the moment you book and up to your return home.

The plan is valid only if payment of the plan cost has been received by Southwest Vacations.

Part A – Cancellation For Any Reason Waiver and Other Non-Insurance Services Provided by Southwest Vacations

Cancellation for Any Reason Waiver:
You may cancel your vacation for any reason prior to departure and receive a full refund for your vacation booked through Southwest Vacations. Your refund is made in the original form of payment. Flights are non-refundable and will be issued in the form of an airline credit valid for future travel for up to one year from original time of purchase.

The protection provided by Part A is not transferable or refundable.

No supplier penalties or fees (provided by Southwest Vacations):

  • If you change or cancel your Southwest vacation prior to departure, all supplier penalties, fees for hotels, rental cars and/or activities will be waived for the first revision instance.
  • Any additional fees incurred from changes made to your vacation after the first revision are not waived.
Hurricane Guarantee (provided by Southwest Vacations):
If a hurricane affects your city of origin or destination prior to your departure on your Southwest Vacation, you will receive a refund in the original form of payment for your unused hotel, rental car and/or activities. Flights are non-refundable and will be issued in the form of an airline credit for future travel for up to one year from original time of purchase.

The protection provided by Part A is not transferable or refundable.

Part B - Schedule of Insurance Benefits

(Underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company)
  • Travel Arrangement Protection
    • Trip Interruption Protection: Reimburses (up to the total trip cost) unused hotel arrangements plus additional costs to change or purchase a new airline ticket if you can't travel due to circumstances such as illness or injury to you, a family member, or traveling companion, jury duty, subpoena, or a traffic accident on the way to the airport.
    • Missed Connection: Provides a reimbursement for the prepaid nonrefundable Trip Payments for the unused portions of your tour, the additional transportation costs to join your departed tour, and any reasonable accommodation and meal expenses, if your arrival at the Trip destination is delayed for 3 hours or more for a covered reason.
    • Trip Delay: Reimburses additional Expenses incurred when you are delayed 6 hours or more due to a defined Hazard, for instance, inclement weather, common carrier delays, etc.
  • Medical Protection
    • Emergency Evacuation: Arranges and pre-pays the cost of emergency medical transportation if a serious illness or injury occurs during your vacation that requires medical evacuation.
    • Medical Expense Reimbursement: Reimburses medical costs should you incur hospital charges or other medical bills as a result of an illness or injury during your vacation.
  • Baggage Protection
    • Baggage/Personal Property Reimbursement: Reimburses you for baggage or items lost, stolen, or damaged during your vacation.
    • Baggage Delay Reimbursement: Reimburses for the purchase of necessary personal items if your bags are delayed by the airline for 8 hours or longer. The plan covers you for the purchase of necessary items in the event your luggage is delayed by an air common carrier for more than 8 hours en route to your vacation.
  • Travel Accident Protection
    • Accidental death and dismemberment coverage in the event of loss of life or limb while flying.
  • Worldwide Emergency Assistance Services
  • Provided by One Call International (non-insurance services)

How to purchase Southwest Vacations Travel Protection

While building your vacation, you may purchase the Southwest Vacations’ Travel Protection option from the Add-ons menu under Travel Protection. You may also add it during the first step of your check-out process in the Travel Protection section.

To File A Claim under Part B:

  • For all post-departure claims under Part B, the passenger can go to tripmate.com or they can call our office 24/7 at 1-833-210-0671 for Southwest Vacations Plan Number: N430S.
