Jul 22, 2025I always have a great time picking our travel hotels through Costco except for our recent visit to the Iberostar Selection Coral Bavaro. We stayed in June and were picked up at the airport with no issues getting to the resort. We got there early so our room wasn’t ready but that was expected and we were fine waiting until around until it was. They assigned us a concierge who convinced us to attend a presentation on their travel discount service. He said we could leave whenever we wanted during the presentation and that it would take place during breakfast and we’d get a resort credit of $180 so we figured we could make that happen the next morning. Mainly we did it for him as he said he’d also get a commission if we attended, we knew going in we were not interested in their package. The next morning, they registered us, and assigned us a really sweet sales rep. We attend the presentation and didn’t finish going through the tour until 3 hours later! The sales rep was great at their job, but we were not interested and the sales rep, manager and QC persons were extremely pushy, aggressive and rude when we kept insisting we were not interested. If you’re interested in a vacation package, feel free to hear them out otherwise DECLINE this presentation because it’s a HUGE waste of time. The only pro to the wasted 3 hours was getting the credits we spent at gift shops. Outside of the first day, our concierge didn’t add any value to our trip. We asked for late check out, and he agreed to it letting us know there was a cost associated - we agreed and still wanted the late check out. I called the morning we were leaving and there was no record of the request. The front desk said they’d call us back to verify with their manager if the late check out was allowed but we never heard back and ended up leaving at the regular checkout. My family was also staying at the resort and reported numerous cockroach sightings in their room. Obviously that was not ideal but there wasn't much the front desk could do for them. Our interactions with the staff at the restaurants, bars, pools, and housekeeping were all very positive but other than that, there weren't' too many highlights.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Iberostar Coral Bávaro – one of the best family vacations we've ever had! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, kindness, and genuine smiles. The entire team was always one step ahead, making sure we felt comfortable, relaxed, and cared for. The atmosphere was both fun and welcoming, with staff going the extra mile every day to ensure we had a great experience. The facilities are spotless and beautiful – the rooms are spacious and modern, the gym is well-equipped, and the restaurants offer a great variety of delicious food. We would especially like to thank Keila, chef at El Faro, who went out of her way to prepare food for our baby – even on her days off. That level of dedication and heart is something we will never forget. This resort is a true example of excellent hospitality. We felt not just like guests, but like family. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return! Thank you, Iberostar Coral Bávaro!

I would recommend to everyone!!!
This is the second time in Iberostar. First one was 10 years ago and we loved our staying and now we decided to upgrade to the Coral Level section ehhh WOOWW! I would recommend it to everyone, yes it is more expensive but worth it! Everything was cleaned, we had some tiny problems with the tv and the safety box missing batteries and they came in no time to fix it and to assure everything was ok. Food super good, good quality and good variety always fresh and well made. Pools never crowded , beach was plenty of sargassum sadly but we walk for 45 min on the beach and we found a nice spot to take a swim. Our cleaning lady was the best! Her name is Yajaira de Jesus and she was super kind and always attentive about details when organizing the room, you’ll be lucky to have her. So if you’re hesitating about this hotel, dont hesitate more and go!!

Just came back yesterday from Iberostar Selection Bavaro Coral Leve. Family: 2 adults and 2 teenagers (girls). In general, we had a good time, and my girls really liked the resort. This is our third Iberostar and I have to admit, this one is not our favorite. Do not take me wrong-we enjoyed our stay, and nothing was terribly bad/wrong, but this is not our favorite one. I was not sure about the DR in general but actually, really liked it. All concerns about bad service, unfriendly people, bad airport and etc. were wrong. Prons: beautiful grounds- a lot of greens, clean and the Selection has villas that made it very private. Room was very nice-spacious (family 2 bedrooms suite), clean and seemed that was redone not a long time ago. Teens had their own bedroom, and it was very convenient. Food in Coral level was very good, and for us it worth an additional cost. A lot of seafood, fruits (mango, Papai and watermelon were amazing), and in general a lot to choose from. Service was AMAZING- people were friendly, service was fast, and they were not tip hungry as we saw at the other resorts. We did tip often, but if I forgot cash, nothing was different. Restaurants were nice (except one that I will mention later). Some were very good, some were just ok. We were lucky to try almost all of them:) It was easy to schedule it also. We liked: Greek (sea bus was the best meal), Coral level restaurant, Stackhouse (steak was a little tough but still tasty), and Italian. French was just ok. Beach is very nice, and I could see how beautiful it could be without seaweeds:( There are a lot of space at the Coral level, and 2 little pools were very convenient too. People were nice and friendly at the Coral level. We did not have one issue with the service. Surprisingly (compare with Iberostar, Jamaica), we were not "abused" with the timeshare. Yes, they approached us, but after no, they left us alone. Cons: Food at the main buffet (Selection) was just ok... We tried 3 times and were not impressed. Deserts were just ok at all levels...Compare with Mexico and Jamaica, they looked beautiful but tasted just ok.. Seaweeds... I understand that this is a natural phenomenon, but it spoiled our trip. They cleaned without stopping but I felt that the number of equipment they had was not sufficient. Only Friday, they cleaned around the Coral level... Some days the sewage smell was all around the resort...Not sure why. Asian restaurant-do not waste your time...The worst food and service we had-people are not friendly, and food was terrible... The evening shows were not the best also, and also, they were too late. Only on the last day we figured out that they had another room where Michael Jackson show was. The coral level was very quiet, and we never went to the main pool, actually. I am sure there was some actions there. There are a lot of golf cars driving on the paths. I personally, did not care too much, but my husband was not thrilled. To conclude with, we had a good time, and the Coral level worth every penny for us.

No shoes, no shirt... only Mamajuana!
No shoes, no shirt... only Mamajuana! This was my family's 1st time in the D.R. We were skeptical about the food and water concerns on an island. However, we LOVE Iberostar resorts. Having past GREAT experiences in Cancun, we knew Iberostar Punta Cana would not disappoint. We were right! This location is truly paradise, especially the Selection Coral Bavaro Suites. From the location, the rooms, the attention, to the food, the drinks and the hospitality, this resort is EXCEPTIONAL! I would be remiss if I did not mention specific Iberostar employees that made our experience truly a dream. These people treated us like family. So, kudos to all of the employees at Iberostar Bavaro Punta Cana that made our vacation EXCEPTIONAL! Especially our new family: 1) Samuel (great concierge rep. At Coral Bavaro), 2) Felix (Coral Bavaro pool bartender - my man kept the drinks flowing and within minutes made my requests a reality (lighter and ashtray for a daytime cigar)), 3) Torres (lifeguard - kept my family safe while in the pool), 4) the excursion team: Ruben - my man is a genius with the drone out at sea, Felipe - great coordinator and Miguelito - this man kept the drinks and mamajuana flowing while out at sea. Last but not least, a special call out to the restaurant team at Coral Bavaro Seleccion. Our dining experience from breakfast to dinner at El Faro and Salt & Soul restaurants would not have been what it was without my new brothas: Pirón, Ismael, Ekeney and Jimmy (sommelier). Keep up the good work.. You guys are the best! We will certainly return. Note: although there was sargassum on the beach, it is mother nature. Iberostar does a great job of trying to clear up. We did not let a little weed ruin our vacation. We still got into the water past all the weeds, took excursions into the beautiful turquoise waters and the hospitality and overall experience made up for the sargassum. I HIGHLY recommend this upgrade section of the Iberoster Punta Cana resort.
