An Amazing way to experience Isla Mujeres
This hotel is incredible. It is beautiful, has amazing beach views and access, the food is great and the staff immaculate. I traveled solo and felt very safe. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Isla Mujeres!
Travel during pandemic
Before I get into details, let me preface by saying that last year I stayed at zoetry Agua Punta Cana and this is my second time to Mexico since covid ( I was at the now sapphire with my husband and son a month earlier). I'll start with the great. Service, food and drinks were incredible! Magda at the pool is amazing, and so is the gentleman that worked the pool area on Tuesday Sept 8 ( I'm sorry but his name escapes me). All the food at casa Rolandi was so fresh. I ate the hog snapper almost every night. It was amazing. Many nights I did order two meals, well, just because! I've attached a pic of the restaurants QR code so you may see what is being offered. The most boring food that I had was the French toast. Their pizzas are great, as well as their fish fingers and fries ( don't diss the dish! My friend mocked me and she agreed they were incredible). My friends ate lots of seafood and said it was the best squid and octopus they've ever had. The homemade pastas are delicious as well. Breakfast was generally a wellness croissant, chilaquiles, yogurt, fruit. Drinks were very high quality. Daiquiri and margaritas were made with fresh fruits, not sugary mixes. Highly recommend, spicy margaritas, mango margaritas, banana daiquiri, cucumber mojitos, mini beer shots and bloody Caesar with belvedere vodka. We were at the resort when they were at yellow, and it switched to orange two days later. The resort, at most, had 13 rooms occupied. Never even felt like there were that many people there. One day we were the only people at the pool til noon. We preferred the main pool. It's about 5.5 feet deep. The adult one is 4 feet max. Plus the main one has prettier views. The pool water was a perfect temp, similar to the ocean. This is what you will need to expect, due to staying at the resort during covid : the cozy bar and second restaurant ( le messitage) will be closed until they are allowed 100% occupancy. So that means, no wine tastings, no tequila tastings, no bar is open for one to walk up and get a drink. That means you can only get drinks at the pool or beach, brought to you from a server, or at dinner. I'm sure you can order drinks thru room service, but it took me a half hour to get a pot of tea. No one hangs out in the lobby having nighttime drinks. Every day you do get a bottle of sparkling wine in your room. The bottle of tequila is a small flask size bottle of jimador. The maids did a great job at housekeeping and refreshing the fridge and snacks. There is literally no entertainment. Zero. No Spanish lessons, cooking lessons, no yoga or water aerobics ( all which is stated on their website). We also were never advised of a sunset cruise. One couple we met ( who were uvc members) were offered the sunset cruise and were greeted with drinks upon arrival ( we aren't members and experienced neither. Seemed to be a common theme while there.) Now for the not so good. As gorgeous as the views are, incredible food and service and drinks, it does not take away from the fact that this resort is in desperate need of an uplift. The tiles in the saltwater pool are coming off by the handful ( on our first day, all three of us sat in the saltwater pool and pulled off of the seat, handfuls of tiles that came off. We placed them on the edge. Missing tiles equal sharp edges). In my friends room, the ac went out a couple of times, her jacuzzi on the patio was missing handles ( making the jacuzzi unusable) and her sliding door didn't close all the way at the end, she was concerned about bugs getting in. In my room, the white couch was horribly stained. Spilled drink and obvious spots where someone placed wet clothes on the couch to dry. I never could get warm water from the shower ( it was the coldest showers I've ever taken) and the faucets in the bathroom sink were corroding. Between the bed and the couch is a shelving unit, however, two of my three shelves were missing. I understand things are to be different during covid, but covid isn't an excuse for a resort that needs some updating. We did the golf cart tour and our favorite was the turtle farm. The employee allowed us to hold 1-2 day old baby turtles. Another thing is like to point out is that there are three steps in the room, going to the couch area. Slightly scary after you're drinking all day. If the resort ever remodels, I'd hope they'd change out the steps to a small decline instead.
Celebrated my wife’s bday
Arriving at Cancun international airport was smooth and fast we were picked up at the airport by our driver and were taken to the marina to hop on the the boat to Zoetry. Upon arrival at Zoetry you can feel the weight of stress disappear, as always the staff are so warm and inviting. We come here often but this time we were here to celebrate My wife’s bday. After all the years of coming here i finally rented a golf cart and we rode around the island. What an awesome experience (we rented it for 24 hrs at the front desk). One evening we rode around the north end of the island and the next day we headed off to to south point to check out the ruins off the southern end cliffs. During our stay there was only one restaurant open and the cozy bar was closed due to the governments restrictions ( I’m trying to be nice here) . We had amazing dinners every nite and enjoyed a glass of wine or three after dinner in the lobby. We had an amazing massage and facial but mostly we had a great time laying out on the beach sipping on cocktails. Zoetry thank you for always being so warm and making us feel like we are in our second home SALUD 🍷we will be back soon.
We thought about staying an extra week!
My husband and I had the very best time staying at Zoetry Villa Rolandi. It’s a beautiful hotel, very comfortable and clean. The staff is very welcoming and informative. If you are concerned about traveling during the pandemic, this is the safest place you can be. Staff wear masks, your temperature is taken every time you return, the elevator and floors and handrails are sanitized. The food was great. We loved going to town or just going into the clean, warm water of the beach at the hotel. I wish I could remember everyone’s name but thank you to Martin, Marlena, Magda and the lovely housekeeping staff. The wait staff were wonderful too. We had a Superior suite on the third floor and it was wonderful. We loved coming back at the end of the day. We will definitely return. One suggestion...we bought our own microwave for convenience. There is a fridge in the suite but no microwave.
Even during COVID I ventured to Mexico. This was my last stop before returning home. This property is beautiful and well maintained. I felt completely safe with all the sanitizing and relentless cleaning. We only paid for breakfast and not the all inclusive because I like to try places in town. The breakfast was good. They make fresh squeezed juices and you can choose your entree. My poached eggs were overdone but it didn’t matter because the views were amazing. The shower has great pressure and a steamer. The room AC was good. I do recommend this hotel because of the property and rooms.
