Not what I expected
As a Westgate owner, I was extremely disappointed with my stay here at Myrtle Beach. Within the first few minutes, I was underwhelmed. There is no Owner welcome desk to check in. The Concierge is present but only gives out parking passes. Does not help with luggage, not even putting it on the cart for guests. Also upon checking in, realized my room type was wrong. Said ocean view but definitely was not..... if you consider barely seeing it from patio. As an owner, I'd think I deserved better. I reported this immediately to manager Jenny but she claimed they were full and nothing could be done. She didn't seem pressed about me not being happy with service. Then, there's only one elevator in each building so it sometimes took forever to go up and down. The only pro was that the room wasn't that bad. Very spacious. But heads up, housekeeping does not come clean and provide extra linen unless you ask them to. As far as the amenities go, the pool bar was ok. Don't expect high quality alcohol though. Pool chairs are provided but very limited umbrellas. The resort provide beach chairs but no umbrellas and you have to take them down to the beach yourself. The hot tub is nice. No ice machines around resort so you have to grab a bag at pool bar. Drafts, the restaurant, wasn't bad. Bartenders were really cool. The "coffee/ice cream shop" was ok. They ran out of pizza one night and they were always out of 1-2 of the ice creams our entire stay. I've been to several Westgate properties over the last 10+ years (Utah, Florida, Arizona, NY, TN, and Vegas) and this one is by far the worst property I've visited. It's more of a hotel feel. Service wasn't even great. Throughout the day, I found myself shaking my head at something I saw, heard or witnessed. Therefore, I will not be returning unless things change. It seems as though owners get ignored and that getting new owners is the priority. Very disappointed.

Fur baby had nowhere to go to the bathroom
The resort says it’s pet friendly however it allows pets, but it does not provide adequate area for your pet to use the bathroom. Our dog was 11 years old, very old dog and walking on the rocks that they provided was not good for his feet we had to walk over to another hotel grassy area for him to go to the bathroom as they provide no grassy area for him to use the bathroom. When I spoke to guest services, they said it’s a complaint. They get quite frequently, but they have no intention of upgrading or making any changes as of date. If you’re in the second tower, you’ll be greeted with the aroma of greasy food blowing on you as you enter the one and only door to get you into the building. Made me want to throw up every single time we left and entered the building. If you’re looking for quiet and relaxing, the second tower is right next to an amusement park. We did enjoy the fireworks they had on Wednesday night. I did enjoy looking out over the ocean when I woke up every morning. If I were an owner, that location would be marked off my wish list.

Disappointed
We stayed here because we booked a preview of the time share program. The first thing we saw when we arrived was a woman on a bench next to the entrance smoking a joint. Not a comforting sight. The hotel staff were professional and friendly and the hotel was clean and well maintained. The room itself was clean but bare bones. The coffee pot was on top of the dresser from the 1990’s and not plugged in. The plug was behind the dresser, so I had to move the fairly heavy dresser out to get it. The television service is local cable with HBO. No streaming service available. Our room was on the city side with a lovely view of the hotels trash compactor with ten to twelve employees standing around it smoking. There are vehicles cruising the street adjacent to the hotel with music blaring all hours day and night. The city itself is dirty and outdated. A guest on our floor was constantly going in and out letting the door slam, talking loudly and letting their kids play in the hall. The preview itself was an absolutely awful experience. We committed to a ninety minute preview with the promise of a gift of our choice that we chose ahead of time. After three hours and a lot of patience on our part and us telling them that we were not interested and not going to purchase, I finally told them enough is enough. And then they send out another person to rate our preview and she tried to offer us another option. After telling her no, she handed us a piece of paper and told us to take it to the office in the lobby for our gift. In the office is a man behind a plexiglass window like a bookie. I give him the paper and he gives us a gift card. Not what we agreed to. I tell him that and he hands us a card and tells us to call this number. Ridiculous. My wife called and they were polite and professional and promised to send our tickets within seventy two hours. We will see. We were booked for three nights. We left after the preview on the second day.

Disgusted
By far my worse hotel experience. I would not recommend. The front desk are liars, condescending, and aloof. Customer service sucks. We checked out earlier than planned, just unbearable! In fact, I am still waiting to get my deposit back, which they said I would have back 2 weeks ago. When I call the front desk to check on status of my refund, they hang up. When I call the 800 number they refer me back to the front desk, then hang up.
