“No view” = loading dock and garbage trucks

I am here for a conference, so I know every room is booked. The rooms are fine - just a clean standard hotel-type room with a comfy bed. The hallway carpet and wallpaper are showing wear. My biggest complaint is the “view.” Our room overlooks the loading dock and garbage dumpsters. Even worse, when loading garbage trucks, we could hear every loud crash and thump clearly (thankful no smell). I wonder if Walt would approve of the underbelly of the beast being on full display. Just beware if you book a “no view” that there is a view, but not one anybody would like to see. Staff is friendly, but this large conference overwhelmed food options here and others close by. If I return to this conference next year (or to WDW), I will not be staying here.

Just returned from a week long stay at the Dolphin Resort. It was the first time for us to stay on Disney property and didn’t know what to expect. Check in was simple. However, we arrived early in the morning and later in the day the counter was swamped. We were fortunate in that we were able to get into our room and get some rest before hitting the pool Our room was very basic. Nothing extraordinary, but clean and tidy. I guess for as much as we paid, I thought it would be a little more updated. The walk to our room was kind of dim and often times there was garbage that sat outside the doors on the floor. The air conditioning worked really well with the exception of one day and maintenance was there within minutes to fix the issue. We appreciated it because the heat index while we were there was up over 100 degees. The pool was nice. If you want shade, I suggest you get there before 10am. After that, most umbrellas are taken. There was no outside food or drink in the pool deck, the Cabana bar provided mobile ordering for lunch. They brought it right to your chair. As with all of Disney, be prepared to pay. Restaurants that we went to onsite were pricy. Our breakfast the first day was $70 (breakfast, bottle of water and fountain drink). I thought it was a bit much for a cafeteria style setting. In a nut shell, unless you want to leave the resort, you’re pretty much over a barrel. Also, keep track of what you charge to your room. A friend had charges for things that she didn’t not do. If you have a hard time walking distances, be aware when you check in. Our room was quite a distance from the pool area. Not to mention the set up was crazy (had to take elevators UP to lobby, walk through lobby to the west elevators then go down to the 1 level where the pool level was). You could of course walk around outside but it was upper 90’s all week and it’s not wise to walk that with a heart condition. I appreciated that the water taxi and bus was there to take you to several destinations. That was a great added perk. All in all we had a good time. We would consider staying here again.

Definitely not a top hotel/will never stay there again

Room was outdated. Couldn’t use toilet and shower at the same time because the door wouldn’t close if sitting on the toilet. Air conditioning did not work and despite many requests it was not fixed throughout our four day stay. My husband contracted some type of bug bites when he was sleeping. Again, complaints were filed and were initially accepted but then no follow up by hotel staff & management. We left numerous messages with the contact numbers that were given to us but never received a return call.

Horrible experience. Not worth the money. Not a deluxe level hotel or resort, more like a motel.

we were severely disappointed in the quality of the hotel and the level of service during our recent stay there. For a “deluxe” level of resort and for the price we paid for the room, the I would echo the fact that we were severely disappointed in the quality of the hotel and the level of service during our recent stay there. For a “deluxe” level of resort and for the price we paid for the room, the room and service provided were certainly not commensurate with the money we spent from our hard earned savings. I will provide some examples below: 1. We requested a rollaway bed on check-in as we had 5 guests in the room. We fully expected that the rollaway bed would be in the room after we returned from a late dinner. It was not there despite our request and assurance on check-in that it would be there. We then called the front desk and reiterated our request. We waited another hour and no bed was provided. I then went down to the front desk and requested the bed in person. We finally received the bed after another half-hour wait. We were not able to sleep until well after midnight when we had a full day planned at Disney parks the next day. This completely ruined our next day at Disney as we were exhausted from the previous evening’s events. We basically wasted a very expensive day at Disney Parks because we were exhausted from not being able to rest in your hotel. 2. The sink in our original room did not work properly as the faucet was loose and not affixed to sink properly. 3. We then asked for a room change/upgrade and received a new room. Again we asked that a rollaway bed be provided with our new room and were assured that a rollaway bed would be in the new room, especially given the events of the previous night. Again, after we returned from a late night at the parks, there was no rollaway bed in our new room!! I knew that this time that calling the front desk would not work, so I went down to the front desk and requested a rollaway bed. Again we waited for one hour and no rollaway bed. I went down again a second time to the front desk and this time a very nice front desk employee JOSIAS actually wheeled a rollaway bed up to our room personally. Again we were not able to sleep until well after midnight and were sleep deprived the next morning and again wasted another day at the Disney Parks because we were too tired to enjoy anything. 4. The condition of the hallways was deplorable. There was a lot of garbage left outside in the hallways that was not picked up, which was disgusting and unsanitary (pictures attached below). I told a front desk employee JARIK about this and was told that this was not the hotel’s fault. Again, we have seen this at lower level hotels like Motel 6 and LaQuinta Inns, but NEVER at a 4 or 5 star hotel or deluxe Marriott hotel, on Spring Break or any other time. I brought these issues up on checkout to front desk employee JARIK. I was given a $100 service discount and was told there was nothing else that could be done and this was not all the hotel’s fault. I basically feel that the hotel and Marriott have STOLEN our hard-earned money. The room quality and service provided was not commensurate with the room rates we paid for a deluxe resort hotel as advertised. As above, the sleep we lost on 2 consecutive nights also ruined our subsequent days at the Disney Parks, which were also quite expensive tickets. I really believe our stay should be compensated by Marriott or at the very least substantially discounted given the issues above. I believe that hotel did not have enough housekeeping staff to service a fully booked hotel over spring break, yet the hotel kept full capacity in order to make money while offering less than usual deluxe hotel service, which in essence amounts to stealing our money as you are not able to provide the full services you advertise. room and service provided were certainly not commensurate with the money we spent from our hard earned savings. I tried to email the general manager of the hotel to voice these concerns in a private manner and received no response whatsoever. Therefore, I am posting to TripAdvisor to help warn others.

Rowdy convention center, inappropriate for family stays

My boyfriend and I love Disney and have stayed at this resort a couple times - both have been good experiences, however not only was our most recent stay abhorrent, but worse was how the resort dealt with it. Swan and dolphin are walking distances to Disney boardwalk, and Epcot, and offer easy transport to the other theme parks which has always made spending the extra money more than worth it. We went recently for a 3 day stay with intentions of enjoying the resort more than just going to Disney. Right away we noticed all the signage welcoming a national restaurant convention. Little did we know the scale and effort that would be dedicated to curating the hotel for them. The pool was completely overrun by this group. There are two large main pools with one pool being blocked off for members of the convention - annoying not to be able to use the main pool, but ok there is another pool also relaxing in nature, we assumed this would be for non convention guests, but no. To our dismay the second pool was also completely taken over by the convention- not only was there no where to sit but the convention guests were smoking, vaping, eating food in the pool, drunk and disorderly, and not a group appropriate for family or kids to be around at all. We went to the front desk with our concerns, and we were met with apathy. Their solution was to cancel our reservation. We pointed out that this would strand us, which they agreed with. The next few days were exactly as we pictured - drunk behavior in the hallways, and constantly have to walk through their events to get anywhere, often being told pools and resort common areas were only for the convention - even though we were paying guests. Should conventions be treated as first class guests at the expense of other guests, especially without warning when booking your stay? Although I cannot speak to the members of the convention, I can speak to how unpleasant our stay was - and when trying to discuss our concerns both at the resort and since after, we have been met with both a dismissive attitude and a lack of response. In addition, if anyone is a Marriotts reward member I will also mention they never gave us points for this stay or a previous stay, and we have mentioned it a few times since they still have not remedied the problem. The wonderful thing about Disney is there are many options for family friendly resorts with that special Disney touch. So I would suggest not risking staying here as they do appear to hold conventions a lot, and clearly have no standards for how they are run.
