Great aloha spirit from wonderful staff
Stayed here for 3 nights during visit with family. From check in process to room service, you can feel the aloha spirit from the staff that runs this place. Marcus made sure everyone waiting to check in had refreshment and their wait to check in was pleasant. During Check-in, Maricel, Vas and Beatrice were so welcoming and pleasant. Property had full occupancy but the hard working staff never stopped moving to serve the customers. Hard working staff always has a smile. Angela the GM was clearly hands on leader taking care of her people. Amazing property, amazing staff and Amazing service. Love this place!
Well kept resort
Stopped by here on our first night on our 9 day Maui trip. It's only a little over 20 minutes from the airport. We were very tired. Check in process was smooth and front desk worker was very friendly. But the resort is very large and finding our way to our room was actually a chore - especially when carrying luggage. They could probably use some better signage (signs from the beach side seemed much clearer). Room was simple but clean. Sadly, no upgrades despite Bonvoy platinum status. We did get vouchers for free breakfast at the Starbucks on property. The following morning we got a chance to enjoy the resort. The grounds are well kept and enjoyable to relax in. Unfortunately most of the shoreline looked rocky and steep. Pretty to view but to enjoy the water, we had to walk the path south which basically goes to the beach in front of the Grand Wailea next door.
Beautiful! Great property, amazing location.
We are in day 1 of our 7 days at wailea beach Marriott and I had to post something to help those of you who may be getting concerned seeing other recent negative reviews on TA. If you are like me and constantly checking travel sites in anticipation for your first big post covid trip, and Wailea Marriott is your destination, be prepared to be wowed! From our drive in down the winding road filled with lush trees and beautiful lighting, the Wailea Marriott has been a sight for sore eyes. Our check in was everything I hoped it would be with complimentary lei and fruit juice, with friendly service and a detailed introduction of what the property has to offer. Our room was tastefully updated with modern Hawaii decor and higher end details such as granite countertops and walk-in shower. Our first morning sunrise revealed a magnificently situated ocean front property with beautiful ocean views from our (larger than normal for a standard room) balcony. Partial ocean view room class, luckily enough to be mainly ocean view while being situated around the adults only pool area. We felt lucky, as not all rooms probably have such a prime location. A beautiful short walk to wailea beach showed that the Marriott is a more intimate property than other mega resorts it shares a beach with. I had seen other reviews complaining about not being “worth it” or not attending to travelers needs. We booked this property at a great rate at a 5-star travel destination; Maui. I was not expecting staff at the pool to be running around tending for my every need (although Ashley at the reserved cabana did just that), the main no fee areas had a variety of views to choose from and amenities close by. Prime pool spots had the classic towel self reservations as early as 5:45am, so paying the fee for a reserved area was worth it to us. Understanding that not everyone will be in to that, so be advised that the hotel is near full and island covid restrictions still have a hold on getting everyone a prime poolside spot. In summary, if you want a premier vacation destination at a better value than other places in the area but still having a luxury feel/look, I am confident you will be blown away like we have been at the Wailea Beach Marriott. While I am sure this property may not be for everyone or that some issues arise, I encourage you to do your research and manage expectations as you select what Maui property you choose (and don’t be disgusted if you built up your property to be something it’s not). Not what you expect...
Planned a long-awaited summer family vacation and splurged a bit on an ocean-view one-bedroom suite for the family. What we got was a basement-like room with a view of the trees. The ocean is barely visible through the foliage. No way to treat a loyal elite status member. Don’t call it ocean view if it is not really true.
Don’t expect special treatment if you are a Marriott elite status holder.
My husband and I stayed at the Wailea Beach Resort for our honeymoon. We could not use Suite Night upgrades as the hotel does not accept them. I called twice, months and weeks in advance, to explain it was our honeymoon and request an upgrade. As a Titanium Elite for multiple years now, and it being such a special occasion, I assumed we’d at least get a small upgrade from our basic garden view room (still very high priced per night). Upon check in, we were barely acknowledged for status or special occasion, not provided a lay or but rather a can of guava juice and some cookies, and told sorry, no upgrade. The garden view room was extremely basic, rather a view of a side road and hillside, and wasn’t anything to write home about. I’ve stayed in AC or Residence Inn rooms that were more impressive. Extremely disappointed, my husband wrote the manager an email complaining about the room. They were gracious enough to upgrade us to an ocean view room, slightly nicer than the garden room, and provided champagne and chocolates. We appreciate the fact that MANY people are visiting Hawaii, many are honeymooning, and that everyone is trying to recover lost profits during COVID. We are grateful for the upgrade we did receive, but disappointed that it took complaining. Also be prepared for 20$ drinks and very expensive food at both the Humble Market Kitchin and Kappa poolside bar. Not surprising - Maui tax. The dinner we had at Humble Market was one of the best of our trip. As first time guests to Maui, it was overall OK. If we ever do return, we won’t likely stay here.
