Avoid this hotel where possible
I stayed at this hotel on a business trip. The rooms are bad. This hotel needs an upgrade badly. The noise from the street to the 55th floor is constant. And being an elite guest at Marriott I found the service to be non-existent. There’s nothing that stood out to me that would make me come back to this hotel.

VERY best of Times Square hotels
To be certain, W Times Square is the best upscale hotel in Times Square, not just for its fantastic location, but they've continually kept up with constant renovations and maintain one of the best staffs anywhere in the city. Rooms are great, views are amazing, lobby bar is legit vibes. and in general, the hotel is super quiet given its location. Kenia does a fantastic job as front office manager, on top of everything, and Sophie, who is new, was just terrific to deal with, as was concierge Jerome; always a huge plus these days to find a real concierge who knows what's up. The best place to be in NYC!

Great Location Literally in the Heart of Times Square/Theatre District
If you want to be in the heart of Times Square and the theatre District, the W Times Square is an amazing choice as it literally abuts Times Square at 46th Street. From the hotel you walk out the front door, take a right, and in 20 steps you are in Times Square. The staff was very friendly, and I had a great corner room overlooking the River. This was my second stay at the W and it was a great experience. The bed was great, the bathroom was clean. I moved here after having a brutal one night stay at the nearby Sheraton Times Square (Marriott Bonvoy hotel). Don't even consider that hotel for many reasons. The 7th floor lounge area and bar area were nice. I didn't have the breakfast at the downstairs restaurant so I can't comment on that. Note that if you want a coffee maker in your room you have to request it.

Remind Me Again Why I Came Here ??
The W series of hotels are .... I'll be kind .... eclectic and unique. Don't expect luxury, although there are notable exceptions. South Beach and Taipei are both quite nice; however there are many others that are simply .... dumps. I'm not sure why, but the brand thrives. This property is located square into the middle of Times Square, with all of its hustle and visual accompaniment. Sirens sound off all through the night, and you can hear every bit of them .... even on the 52nd floor. Trust me, you HEAR them. To begin, the hotel has fairly low ceilings. That is always a non starter for me. It gives you a confined feeling. Certainly not a feature of a luxury hotel, which Marriott likes to portray it as. We stayed in one of their WOW suites, but unfortunately there was nothing Wow about it. Slightly larger than a standard room at a standard Marriott, but with a wall dividing the compact living room with the bedroom. The suite did come with a bath and a half. The half bath had a sink that looked like it fell off the wall, and somebody did a half as$ed job of re-installing it. Lighting throughout was poor, but especially in the full bath it was rather dark. The service level was superior upon arrival, but especially the Valet and the Bellman. They were both very helpful and professional. Check in was not so swift, and I had to go through several people to actually get our keys. As a seasoned Ambassador, I always ask for an upgrade upon check-in. This room, although on a tall floor, was no upgrade, as I paid for a suite. There is a nice lounge on the 7th floor. No view whatsoever, but comfortable. Service level was good, but the server gave us a hard time over some complimentary cocktails that were promised us, so her gratuity went bye bye. The main bathroom was small, and poorly lit. The fixtures were very odd, and didn't function well, although the toilet did flush okay. They place the shower valve in a stupid location, and you will get wet turning on the shower, from its placement. I like the shower valves, that are opposite the shower head. Instead of a standard door to the bathroom, they have sliding pocket doors with smoked glass. Definitely not acceptable privacy. All in all, the hotel needs a lot of work. It is prime for a makeover, which is long past due. Hopefully they will attend to it in the near future. I won't be back .... W's are rarely my cup of tea. Be safe, and happy travels !
