Centrally Located, Reasonably Priced and Friendly Hotel
We have been staying in this hotel for years and will continue to do so. We love the location, being on a fairly quiet street just yards from Bourbon Street. The staff is knowledgeable, the on-site bar and restaurant are perfect.
Whole of French quarter
This is the place to be, particularly during Mardi Gras although Bourbon st. is not for the faint hearted at night......but get your fancy dress on and join the party...... particularly along Frenchman where all the honky tonk music bars are.... Great experience if you can make the last day of Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)
Location, location, location
We have stayed here several times. Not a lot of amenities at this price point, but it is prime real estate. Walkable distance to everything in the Quarter, yet quiet. Beautiful courtyard. Luxurious toiletries. They charge a bundle to park your car ($55 daily PLUS TAX!) and for this reason we may explore other options. Front desk staff is hit or miss. Amanda is great...some of the others need to step up their southern charm. The general manager was on site one day greeting patrons and asking how to improve their experience. Nice touch. Sobou (hotel restaurant) has some good eats, just SLOW. **Pierre Masperos (2 min walk max) is killing it with kindness, service and excellent comfort food. Ask for Katie. She could school the whole city on how to do a job joyfully.***
I have stayed at many W hotels. I love their style and ambiance. However, this W was just too dark. Not enough lighting in the rooms. The ambiance was on point. The outdoor patio - the front desk - everything was just perfect. However, the rooms were too dark. We were three girls in the room fighting for a mirror. Only one mirror in the bathroom. They have a pool and a very nice restaurant. But like I mentioned.. it is hard to get ready in a dark room.
Worst W ever
I’ve stayed at a lot at W hotels. This is by far the worst. The rooms are shabby and dirty. Maid service doesn’t come unless you call them. No umbrellas at the desk they said there are umbrellas in the room but there aren’t any. The bar is small and this W’s bar doesn’t have the appeal of other Ws. The bar close at 10 and when I asked them why, they said “there are plenty of other places to drink around here”. You are much better staying at the Ritz or other similarly priced hotels. The service is almost nonexistent and when you find someone there. it’s just rude. Horrible place especially for the price!
