Not up to the Marriott standard
I could overlook the peeling paint and the missing tile because of the glorious view over Lake Michigan, but to find there was no glassware, only those plastic cups in plastic bags you find at cheap motels was too much! The mini fridge was empty, there was no note pad, getting on to the wifi on our collective 8 devices (2 phones, laptop, iPad each) was a nightmare. Why couldn't they recognize that we are BonVoy members and the wifi is included? This is not the standard that we expect from a Marriott brand at over $300 a night. Are they not doing enough business to play at this level?

Great restaurant!
We had excellent experiences at the Wade restaurant! Whitney was an excellent server on our first night there with a party of six. I raved about the five cheese penne so she went to the kitchen to confirm what the five cheeses were. She was attentive and welcoming without being overbearing. Our second visit was with my daughter’s volleyball team. Bill, the manager, went out of his way to make sure we were accommodated and taken care of. Whitney served us with the same kindness and excellent service as our first experience. She remained unfazed and smiling while serving all 30 of us! Crystal, the bartender, makes a very good old fashioned and is completely delightful! She puts people at ease and seems to really enjoy what she does! We were thankful for the care and service we received!

Don’t Pass on The Wade!
I rarely write reviews but after almost being scared away by the many poor reviews for this hotel, I felt like I had to. My daughter and I spent one night here for a “girls trip” to the city and we were very happy with our experience. Does the ambiance scream 2025? No. It’s a little dated but kind of in a retro, kitschy way (the 90s are cool again anyway, right?) It’s more “funky” than “luxury” but if you’re not expecting the Ritz-Carlton I don’t see how you can be disappointed. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, from the awesome pool and gym to our room. The beds very very comfortable and had a nice selection of pillows. The water pressure in the shower was great. Every staff person we interacted with was polite and friendly and responsive. I didn’t spend any time at the inviting, colorful lobby bar since I was with my eleven year-old daughter, but it was very lively for a mid-week summer night. The location is A+ and was perfect for the purpose of our trip: Michigan Avenue shopping and mid-week summer fireworks at Navy Pier. It’s an easy 8-10 minute walk to both. The views of the lake were incredible. I hope more people will leave positive reviews that counteract the negative ones, because I was definitely wary of staying here after reading those. But I was pleasantly surprised by The Wade and I would definitely stay there again!

Lake view
The hotel is located on lake shore drive. There's a nice panoramic view on the 33rd floor which we enjoyed during our meetings. Close to many of the must see things in Chicago. Very easy to walk to navy pier and many other restaurants. Rooms are modern and spacious. The pillows are terrible to sleep on, but this seems to be the case with all Marriott properties recently.

Excellent Location and Comfortable stay
Being a regular to Chicago, we chose to stay at the Wade Hotel, Chicago this time. The hotel that was known as “W” earlier is owned by Marriott. It is located at the Lake Shore drive and is probably the only one that is located there, onlooking the lake and navy pier. The location of the hotel is very good, onlooking the Ohio beach and Navy Pier. The hotel has an impressive lobby and an island bar; it has a good coffee shop and has 33 floors. It has an indoor pool and gym and a terrace on 7/8th floor. The hotel is close to Mag Mile and river walk is almost 10/15 mins away. There are multiple 7/11 super markets available nearby, which makes the stay more convenient. The rooms were comfortable and we had a beautiful lake shore view glazing window. The only thing that can be improved is the lighting in the room corridors, the same are too less and makes it look dingy at times. I will surely, repeat the same again. The hotel keeps up to the Marriott name in hospitality and location.
