Girls trip to Chicago!!!
My friend and I stayed at the W for our girls trip to Chicago. Not only was it in an amazing location the staff was a delight to work with. Eden was super helpful in getting us reservations where we wanted to go and helping us to miss lines and enjoy as much of the city as possible in our short length of stay. The GM Andy was fantastic and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy! I highly recommend the W city center if you’re planning a trip to Chicago! Thanks for a great time guys! Jenn
Cool brand in a historic building
If you are expecting the excellent finish of a W hotel, unfortunately this property does not offer this, the bar and the event space are impressive but it is let down by the bedrooms. The staff are super friendly and it is in a good location. I have held events here for a number of years now and the event space is great, the events team are super helpful and we really enjoy working with them. Every time I have stayed here I have had issues with bedrooms, i.e. no Ac or no heating, toilet doesn't stop flushing, taps dripping, lock not working, cleanliness. However when reported was dealt with straight away.
Not What I Expected... At All
I have been to several W properties in the past couple of years. I know that there's a huge difference between what you get from the brand in Asia compared to what you get in the USA. Price Service Attitude ... You name it... But this one was... shockingly disappointing. It started out well, more or less, with the person that checked me in, Nick, being super useful and helpful and friendly... And he managed to get me an upgrade (hold your YAYs though...) It went downhill from there... The decor of the room is nothing to brag about... And I am being nice, here... Beige? It is a W and the inside of the room is... Beige... No view (window was facing the courtyard... So, dark...) no amenities (you expect toothpaste and toothbrush)... Nick had provided those, though, when I checked in... Poor water pressure in the shower... Breakfast is another "interesting" experience... I chose to have that option instead of the points when I checked in, and breakfast is neither a buffet (even a bad one) nor a la carte you are presented with a limited amount of choices (probably picked from the much bigger menu) and then expect to be billed if you ask for something extra, like another muffin... I was kind of shocked at this and pissed at myself for my poor choice (I would have taken the points and went to Starbucks next door if I had known)... One thing I must say of the staff though is that they are really nice... Always helpful Always smiling Really pleasant people they have working there... Overall, though, disappointed... Yeah, not coming back ever...
best concierge, great room
I booked a room for my girlfriend and I for valentines day. I emailed Eden, the concierge staff, if the hotel could prepare some rose petals. She not only agrees to do it for free but also upgraded our room. Most thoughtful concierge ever!
Great views, interesting rooms
Everything you would expect and want in a millenial based hotel. For those of us who are on the farther side of 40 the only thing missing in the room was a place to put folded clothes. The service was top-notch. and very clean.
