Amazing Food, Lovely Personnel, Spotless, Quit Hounding Us About Timeshares!
Villa Premiere is a lovely little resort with a couple of problems. PROS: We were greeted warmly, offered a glass of champagne and given a short neck massage. Then we were turned over to someone who we thought was ging to give us a tour of the property. Instead, we peaked out into the pool area and then were seated down for a strong promotion of "breakfast with us, have a tour and get discounts" speech. After already been through something similar while trying to get a taxi at the airport, we were not interested in the least, but had to fight to put an end to even the proposal to discuss it! From that point on, every time we went through the lobby, we felt we had to deke around that area or we'd be questioned again. So much for having a concierge we could ask questions of! (Luckily the front desk and bellman were great sources of information) We had one of the honeymoon suites which was nice because we could sit out in the shade. There is a humongous spa tub which you have to arange to have filled, so I only did that once. It was lovely though at sunset to sit out there! The grounds are not extensive, but are immaculately kept. My husband had to be up at 630 to "grab" a lounge chair. From what I heard from returnees, and there were many there for 7-11th trips!...this is unusual and hotel staff did end up putting more loungers out along the spit, which had a nice view, but no shade. FOOD...delicious! Everything looked beautiful and aside from one dish, which was my fault since I don't like truffles, all the meals were excellent. The hostess, Marilu, is adorable and manages to interact with my goofy husband on an equal level. Friday through Saturday there was at least one set of entertainment and for the most part it was exquisite...2 lady violinists/singers; a duo called La Boquita; a haprisst/flutist/singer. But then for the next 3 days there was nothing which was disappointing. CONS First the timeshare intrusions mentioned above. NO BEACH! I came to float in the ocean and it is a stoney beach! I had expected mainly sand with a few stones, but it was all stones. The 2 pools were very nice and never crowded, but....no ocean. RECOMMENDATION If you like to sit out on a balcony in the late afternoon, get a honeymoon suite or better so you aren't in the direct sun. We never saw anyone on the other balcnies. Do consider getting the all-inclusive meal plan. The drinks for the most part were very good and plentiful and the food was excellent. We added up what we would have paid for our meals alne, as one can order from the menu if not going all-inclusive, and we came out well ahead.
Relaxing place to stay
Though the Coronavirus was slowly shutting down PV and the number of guests at the hotel was dwindling, the service was still excellent during our last trip in mid-March. All the employees still had smiles on their faces and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. Special notice has to be given to Maria at the concierge desk, the waiters Hugo and Adan, and Javier at the pool bar. Over the years they have become good friends and always greet us with smiles when we arrive. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the end of the Malecon so walking to and around downtown is a good work out. An Oxxo store is only a block away on the other side of the Buenaventura hotel so it's a good place to purchase some water to keep yourself hydrated as, of course, the water is a little pricey at the hotel (of course water would be included if you're all-inclusive but see the next paragraph). We've gone with the European plan the last couple times we've visited as we just don't drink and eat enough to make the all-inclusive worth the money. Either way you have to sign your receipt every time you leave the pool bar or restaurant so going all-inclusive doesn't save any time. It's not like other all-inclusives where you can just get up and walk away when you're done. There's also a small drug store right across the street from the next door Buenaventura so a good place to go for any basic supplies you may need. (Suntan lotion, sunburn ointment, etc). All the rooms in the hotel face the ocean so you can be assured of an excellent view and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The waves are usually quite strong and there is not much swimming in the ocean - but that's fine for us as we are not big swimmers. The pool is just the right size for the size of the hotel. Also, no kids as it's a 18+ only hotel. In the evening they'll sometimes have special entertainment. In the week we were there they had guys playing the sax and guitar, another guy playing keyboards, a couple women singing and playing violin, a small group which included a flamenco dancer - something different all the time. They usually have two restaurants open in the evening (though sometimes just one) so after a while it was a little hard to find something different to eat; but that's partly our fault as we're picky eaters. Overall, we enjoy staying at the Villa Premiere. When we arrive, it's almost like coming home and reconnecting with the employees who I now consider my good friends.
Awesome Place for Your Honeymoon
Villa Premiere was exactly what my wife and I were looking for and hoping for when we planned our honeymoon. Super relaxed atmosphere, fantastic service, delicious food and drinks, all inclusive service but close to everything when we wanted to venture out. Highly recommend this resort!
Our favorite Vacation
The first thing i did when we returned in March was to write a review !! Unfortunately it was never posted !!!! We have been staying at VP for about 10 yrs. We do a fair amt of travelling but when we want to get away from it all we go to Villa Premiere. Yes,we have sat through the sales talk and purchased not only at VP but bought days at Buenaventura for our children and grandchildren. What better way to spend time together. We wee introduced to the Privileged Club by our friend and perfect Concierge Maria when it was first introduced. I think there is a misconception about the Club. It is NOT a time share !!!! From year to year prices will rise but not if you are a member. The price stays the same for the amt of time you have bought !!!!!!! You can call and make a reservation at anytime and your request is not denied. What a bonus for us. This year we spent 3 weeks at VP. Ten days with our family and 11 days with friends. It was perfect. Thank you to the wonderful staff that helps to make it that way. Maria,Antonio,Liz, Hugo,Adan.Javier,Cesare ,Aron,Faustino and I could go on and on. The more you go,the more you become like family. JH
