    My favorite place to vacation

The activities staff is awesome especially Lizbeth, Miguel and Said. The property is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The location is also very convenient. I’ve been coming here since 2005 and always hate to leave and count the time until I return

    Amazing Resort

This was our first time at the flamingo. We brought a total of 11 people which included six adults and five kids. We were not let down. They did a fantastic job and Cristobal took care of us on the beach! Santiago took care of all the kids getting smoothies all day long! We are coming back!

    Fabulous Mother/Daughters Trip

My daughters (14 years and 12 years) and I decided to try a new resort this year and booked in at the Villa La Estancia which allowed us to access its sister resort the Villa del Palmar Flamingos. Overall, it was an incredible week of excellent food and drink by remarkable servers at both resorts. Our goal was to try all the restaurants available to us in both resorts during our stay. We came to the conclusion that we adored the Japanese restaurant at Villa del Palmar Flamingos which meant that we visited it 3 times during our stay. We had the most incredible service from Imelda, Abil, Douglas, Edel, Elizabeth, Manuel, and the whole kitchen staff. They went above and beyond, ending our week with a celebration of drinks and desserts. We want to express our outmost appreciation to the staff for making our stay so special and treating us so well. We highly recommend both resorts and especially the Japanese restaurant (and Imelda)...you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back!

    Honest review!

This is a nice resort but is showing its 20+ year age. Negatives: Our studio room in building #1 was nice but we didn't have a good view from our balcony. We had to use ear plugs at night due to the plumbing noises and the Krystal resort next door. The shower head was not very good. Limited cookware. No kettle, had to heat water in a coffee mug in the microwave. 15% service fee added to housekeeping, restaurant meals, and bar drinks. Bar drinks were largely ice and paying approx. 209 MXN pesos (185 + 23.42 service fee) which is around $14.70 Can $ is ridiculous. Good luck finding a lounge chair around the pool and at the beach as people go out early and leave their towels on the chairs. The pool and beach attendants do not remove towels from chairs even thou the resort claims that any towels left on chairs for more than 1 hour are removed. The restaurant meal prices are now relatively comparable to Cdn prices. Can not drink the tap water. Day maid did not leave the 2 bottles of water every day. Luckily the turn down service maid left us some water. The attached supermarket prices were more expensive than the nearby OXXO. For example we bought at OXXO a 10 litre of water for 46 MXN pesos ($3.24 CDN) which was far cheaper than the supermarket. (We needed extra water to make coffee, for drinking, etc. as 2 1 litre bottles were not enought) Positives: The beds were comfortable. The room and the resort including the pools and beach area were clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant meals were good but somewhat expensive. No problem getting a drink at the pools as there were waiters walking around. The pool water temperature was great as they are heated pools. You will meet some interesting people at the resort. Resort offers a daily all-inclusive option for meals and drinks at $140 US $ per person per day if you want to eat or drink alot. Taxi rates to several destinations are listed outside the resort. Staff very helpful in getting taxis for people. Tip them for this service. WIFI was good in the room and at the pools. Note that WIFI is now free for guests. Tips to save money: Sign up for the 1 hour and 30 minute timeshare presentation. We were given alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink coupons to get free drinks at the resort. These saved us alot of money. You also get a free buffet breakfast. However, you have to put up with a 30 minute presentation to try to get you to buy a timeshare. We simply left after 1h 30 minutes. Buy groceries at the Mega or La Comer stores at the highway and make some meals in your room. Good stores to buy beer, wine and liquor. It is a 20 minute walk or 120 MXN pesos one way for a taxi. Use a spanish to english translator and write spanish notes to the maid to supply water, coffee, etc. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation but be aware of some of the negatives that I identified.
