You sign a ticket EVERYTIME you order something. Its super annoying!
This place requires you to sign a receipt EVERYTIME you ordered something! It's an all inclusive resort that offers non-inclusive as well. It is panful waiting for them to print a ticket even for a bottle of water. The staff is super slow and it takes an average of 10 minutes or more to get drinks. They have one barternder at each bar. There are only two of them open by the pools. The food is marginal and Tomatilla's is hard to get in but half the tables stay empty at night. Find a better experience!
Awesome Experience and Food
We were in Cabo in January 2024 and were fortunate enough to eat at Carbon at Villa Del Palmar. What an amazing experience and the food was awesome. My husband and I had steak and lobster along with fresh grilled vegetables. Our waiter was Pedro and he made the experience even better. So friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. He helped us make decisions since this was our first time at this restaurant. We will definitely be back and hopefully Pedro will be there to take care of us again. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Cabo anytime soon.
Beautiful resort; overall experience a bit disappointing
Overall, the resort has a nice look and feel, rooms have great ocean view and are quite modern, but the level of service was rather disappointing. From our very first night, we experienced long wait times to eat, an “it is what it is” attitude from the hostesses, long lines for the bar (which were few and far between for such a massive resort) and even though I specifically requested that our room be cleaned in the morning given mid afternoon naps, only once did that happen during our 7 day stay. As I type this, I had asked the person who is cleaning rooms if she could clean our room next (over 45 minutes ago) and she said yes, yet I see she’s in the room next door instead. While these things all seem minor, when you’re paying thousands for a vacation, care and attention to the guests should not have to be requested daily, rather it should happen naturally. We did have two amazing folks who tended to us while we were at the beach and by the pool (Andres and Nico). Both greeted us with smiles, were prompt, flexible and great to talk with. While we will be coming back to Cabo, not sure it will be to this resort as I’m not sure I’ll willingly sign myself up for disappointment.
Not the Premium Experience We Hoped For
We stayed a week in a two bedroom suite, all inclusive. Traveled with my husband, sister and mother (80). We all agreed the staff was amazing, really the best part about this resort. Unfortunately the rest of the experience wasn't as good as we had hoped. We were originally given a room on the 4th floor (3416) and it smelled very heavily like mildew. We opened the sliding door and tried to air it out and spent one night there. The next morning I visited the front desk very unhappy and was immediately given a new room to visit to see if it was better and it was. We moved up to the 7th floor and the smell was much better. We did hear from an owner that the higher the room the less they usually smell. The room was clean, the furniture in the main living area needs to be updated (couch and pink chairs). The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms are nice, but we had two tub faucets fall apart on us and one morning we didn't have any water to any of the showers in our unit and had to call maintenance. We are not foodies, but all the food was good, especially at the Sports Bar (surprisingly good there). The buffets were fine, but waiting in line for the paperwork is very slow. Often the food was running low and the space for the buffet is also very small and gets crowded quickly. The drinks were good and service by the pool was excellent, the food and drinks came out quickly and the servers were very attentive. The pool loungers were the most comfortable I have ever experienced (and we have visited many resorts). I am not sure why, but there were more flies at this resort than I have ever had anywhere in Mexico (or anywhere really). Not in our room, just outside around the pool and restaurants. I know some insects are to be expected, but for some reason we really noticed it here. My sister visited the spa at the adjacent property and it was clean and nice and the staff was excellent. She enjoyed her massage very much. The location of the resort is also very good, we easily walked down to Medano Beach in about 15 minutes. My mother had very little trouble getting around the resort, one elevator in our building was out of order the whole week but the other was close enough to our room that it wasn't an issue. The pool area flooring is a little uneven in spots, but as long as you watched what you were doing it wasn't an issue. We paid a premium hoping for a premium experience and really the RIU Palace where we stayed last May was a much better facility for about half the price. The staff at Villa Del Palmar are very hardworking and professional, that was the bright spot for sure and the only reason I gave it an average rating instead of a poor. We will not visit there again, or any of their other properties based on this experience.
Cabo Visit February 2024
My husband and I stayed at Villa del Palmar from 02/10 to 02/24/24. The Palmita market and deli is very very over priced. The front desk staff was not very helpful or friendly. Housekeeping staff did an average job. Rooms need to be updated. Almost everyday lounge chairs at the pools were in short supply. The pool team members were great, always friendly and helpful. Tonatiuh at the towel bar was always extremely friendly and helpful. A very hard worker. We ate at the Sports Bar and Angi was our server. She was very friendly and efficient.
