We stayed on the 16th floor for two nights. The room was very clean. The bed was okay, not super comfy-very form. The view was pretty. The bathroom was clean, but small. The Westin in St.Louis makes this one seem like a motel 6. So if you’re looking for luxury, go somewhere else. Definitely a decent hotel, just doesn’t live up to the name. The location is good. You can walk to some places. If you’re traveling during this “pandemic” be prepared to wear a mask 24/7. Even outside. Or driving a car. I was cussed out at a local star bucks for not having one on. So just be prepared for all that wonderfulness.
Poor communication from Westin
I stayed in KCMO for two nights to visit friends who live in the condo tower near the hotel. I called two days ahead to ask about availability of the gym, pool, room service and restaurants. I was told that "everything is closed", so I left my workout clothes and swimwear behind. When I arrived I found the gym and pool fully open and they had been for two weeks. My room had a treadmill in it (not requested), but I told them I didn't care as I was alone and didn't need any extra space. The room ws spotlessly clean and comfortable but had no coffee maker. Apparently one must request one (but another friend who stayed at the same time had one without asking....) Not sure if this is standard practice due to COVID, but no one cleaned my room or made the bed while I was out all day. I thought they might at least empty the waste basket. On the plus side, it is extremely convenient, connected to the Crown Center shopping area and the staff are friendly and helpful.
One of the all-around best hotels I've ever stayed in.
I stayed here for two nights from 07-09AUG2020 and was blown away. This hotel has it all. From the moment I drove up asking how to get to the parking garage until checking out, every staff member was 100% professional, helpful, and working hard to make sure my stay was perfect. And my stay really was perfect whether there was a global pandemic going on or not. First off, the location is excellent. You can take a covered walkway from Union Station if traveling by train. There is a FREE city tram only steps away from the hotel that efficiently shuttles you North into and across downtown Kansas City. There were Bird scooters all over the place. Getting into and out of the parking garage was a breeze using my hotel keycard. And the big driveway in front of the hotel makes Uber pickups and dropoffs very simple. My room was exquisite. I was very generously upgraded to a suite and enjoyed every minute in there. The room was spotless. The view of the WWI Memorial was spectacular. The bathrooms and toiletries were luxurious. There were ample electric plugs, the TVs were large and had plenty of entertainment options. The WiFi was fast and easy to log in to. The bed was perfectly comfortable and all the furniture was in good condition. There were some tears in the curtains and only one night stand had electric plugs, but I was alone so it was ok. I have stayed in a lot of hotels through the pandemic and was amazed that they had a guy making made-to-order eggs at breakfast. There were even hot biscuits and gravy and bacon! I'm so tired of cold options...this hot breakfast was amazing and unexpected. The executive lounge on the first floor was nicely stocked with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. I was very appreciative to get a Diet Dr. Pepper (my favorite), and a bag of chips. The hotel gym was pro. Not only was there a serious assortment of modern cardio equipment, but there was a huge weight room with plenty of dumbbells, barbells, and machines for a solid workout. There was a sauna in the gym too. The pool looked like a very popular and nice place to hang out at on a hot Summer day. This was my first time in Kansas City and I can't imagine any other hotel provides more. I hope to stay at this property many times in the future and am so grateful for such a wonderful experience. Thanks for making me feel like a truly valued guest!
I selected this hotel for its pool and location. I booked a "pool side" room with a patio. I would like to let others know that the room is not pool side at all. It is one floor up from the pool and near the pool, but not pool side. There are sliding doors to a small patio, and you can get to the pool from there via stairs. However, there is no way to secure your room if you wanted to go to the pool that way. The service was not fabulous. The front desk was okay at check in, but provided no information at all about the hotel or amenities. Due to Covid, there was not any information in the room either. The hotel lobby was nice and very large, allowing for a lot of areas for social distancing. The room was clean and nice. Other areas of the hotel were oddly placed, and needed updating. All in all a good place to stay due to location and also if you have pets. The pool side rooms did have a nice area if you need to take your dogs.
This hotel is old school, which is not a bad thing at all. All of tge Hampton Inns, Fairfields and Courtyards by Marriott in newer buidings represent a big problem these days--lousy construction and cheap materials. Not a place like this. Central air is so much better than noisy wall units. The rooms here are a tad bit dated, but I want old school service, building quality, and a great night's sleep.
