Sunsets, Surf & Savings—Twin Fin Was the Right Call
My son wrote this: This was our first time in Hawaii, and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. The location was perfect, the price was right, our room was comfortable and clean, and the view was awesome! We were located on the 15th floor, overlooking Waikiki Beach and the gorgeous sunsets. The staff were friendly and helpful. As we are too young to rent a car, except U-Haul, we were happy to find that public transportation is all around the hotel. Another plus is having Lulu's Waikiki right next door. That was a perfect and affordable place to eat, which we wish we had found earlier. The beach and surf schools are abounding within walking distance from the Twin Fin. To be any better off than this hotel, we would've had to have been beachfront, but then those rooms start at least double the price! We are glad to have been guests at the Twin Fin hotel, and we recommend it to anyone.

Run down grungy hotel
This hotel is definitely not a 4 star! I'd say it's a 2 star at best. The hotel is VERY run down and grungy. The rooms are all beat up (walls, furniture, baseboards, etc.) The shower was gross. You can tell they do not do any upkeep. It looks like they did a shoddy reno job by just slapping a coat of paint on everything. It was nicer when it was the old Aston. The lobby also had a horrible smell of raw sewage one day, it was absolutely horrendous and I was gagging. There are way nicer hotels in Waikiki to stay at for the same price. Our room also did not get cleaned or made up two days while we were there. We phoned the front desk ( very hard to speak with someone when they never answer the phone) to request housekeeping to get our room cleaned and they said they only do it every other day and you have to request it to be done everyday...first time i've ever encountered this at a hotel. I mentioned we are paying resort fees daily so therefore the rooms need to be cleaned daily. We also requested to change rooms the first night because we felt our room was dirty... they showed us 2 other rooms in our category and they were the same or worse so we opted to stay in our original room. They said they'd get housekeeping to do a deep clean of our tub/shower but they never did come. The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

Great old hotel whether on a budget or not
My wife and I had been to the Waikiki area 10 years prior for our honeymoon. It was such a amazing trip, but the last thing we wanted to do was try to replicate it. So we chose a different hotel, picking the Twin Fin for the compromise between luxury and price. Sure, it doesn't have a spa and the only breakfast in the hotel is pre-paid buffet, but everything else was on par with the cost of the room. At check-in, the receptionist was polite and helpful, even giving us some chocolates because I noted our stay was for our anniversary. Decent pool, although we never used it. Tiki's is a cool place, but a bit more expensive than other hotel restaurants in the area. It's walkable to a TON of other restaurants and stores in the area, which is always good. The condition of the hotel seems to be scrutinized in a lot of reviews. Sure, it's not brand new and definitely shows some age, but from what I've read, basically all the hotels in the area are the same. I mean, they were mostly built in the 50's and 60's, so of course they won't look brand new. There was some minor construction, renovations of rooms and the hall while we were there, but it never disrupted our sleep of our relaxation. We had an oceanfront king room, which was somewhat small, but for our use, it was just fine. The balcony was nice, great to sit and have morning coffee or evening refresher. There was a mini fridge in the room that was good enough to hold a few beverages and occasionally some leftover food. Everything appeared generally clean, although there was a definite odor of mildew in the room. It wasn't bad enough to complain or cause issue for us, but it was there, nonetheless. Again, old building with old building problem. Overall, our stay was great. If we were going to stay on that end of Waikiki again, I would have no problem choosing the Twin Fin again. I would also have no problem recommending it to anyone who wants to be in that area and doesn't want to overpay for a brand name.

Twin Finn Hotel
My room was clean and my bed extra comfortable. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel is old but location is excellent. I enjoyed the Tiki/Grill and the breakfast which commenced while I was there was good and the area on the 21st floor had fantastic views. The only thing I would like to see is a dedicated lounge area where you can read a book or just relax so you can have a break from your room. I feel the resort fee is far too high and needs to be reassessed by the hotel.

Highly recommended!!!
The accommodations at The Twin Fin were perfect. We enjoyed our room and our spectacular view was breathtaking! The breakfast was fantastic and allowed us to try some local fare. Our reservation also included free chair and body board rentals from Beach Candy which was really convenient. Ukulele lessons by the pool were fun. I also participated in the free beach yoga class with Zen Fitness —-Julia was awesome!
