Old, tiny and no amenities
First hotel I’ve ever been to where there was no coffee, no food or anything available to the guests. They literally directed us to the hotel next door where we should have got our room in the first place. This hotel is old and out dated needs renovation work badly
Grand Lodge in Crested Butte Hotel & Suites
Hotel & Suites has an excellent location along the main street in the Mountain of Crested Butte. The hotel is a bit outdated in furniture, carpet, bath, kitchen and appliances. The bedroom is located in the front room as the door to the hallway. You hear everything in the hall plus the light from the hallway seeps under the front door. The bedroom should have been in the second room away from the front door for more privacy and reduced noise, It was nice having 2 rooms but should have been in reversed locations in the suite. Hotel & Suites in general was accommodating and sufficient. I would stay there again.
A learning experience for future travel.
First of all Crested Butte is a lovely town and perfect for biking and hiking. 1) Vail only manages the facility and does not own the individual units. This is important because the owners are responsible for capital funding for room improvements. We found this out because we were traveling and needed a pet friendly room. Only the 1st and 2nd floors are pet friendly. Room 275 faces the maintenance and garbage area. Room 271 was where we moved to on day 2. Better view and a little nicer room. 2) apparently there was water damage and many rooms were damaged which is why we had a wait till the next day to changes rooms. 3) I overheard the workers doing the repairs of the damaged rooms while I was waiting to get my new room. ******* They we’re talking about reusing mattresses that were damaged by the water leak*******. 4) Finally, everything that is being built in crested butte is expensive. The owners of this property are cheap and personally it hurts Vale reputations. Use VRBO or Airbnb. The owners at least pictures. In the summer, restaurants have limited days of operations. Wednesday through Sunday are the best days.
Got a great price on TRIPSCOUT. We found out why. Turns out the room was next to door to parking lot and was loud as you could hear the door when it opened. Room was not clean and the curtains did not close correctly so light from parking lot filtered thru 24/7. Took 20 minutes to check in or talk to main desk personnel. On the plus side. Staff smiles a lot
Building is way past its prime. Unit #306, way past
Booked this room through Vacasa, This is "mountain gem" if next to the elevator, overlooking the roof mechanical system by the ice machine is your goal when going to the mountains. Not a mountain view in sight from the room. Dirty carpet, dated stained furniture, and mold in the shower ceiling. Vacasa should not have rented us unit #306.
