    A Philadelphia Icon

This Hyatt property is located in the heart of center city Philadelphia in the shadows of the William Penn Monument, and is an iconic building on Broad Street. I consider myself a tough grader, so it speaks volumes that this hotel warranted a rare five star review from me. For starters, the building was recently renovated. As it was built in 1902, it exudes the architectural style no longer seen today in American hotels. The ornate moldings and grandeur of the lobby set the tone. This hotel has a rich history, having hosted several presidential events over the years. My room was a one room king bed and it was both immaculate and quiet. There is a restaurant on the top floor, but the real highlight is the access you have to the adjacent Sporting Club. The club is a four story facility with a lap pool, basketball court, pilates studio with ten reformer tables, four golf Trackman Simulator bays and access to all of the modern exercise equipment you would expect. A special nod goes to Matthew, the front desk manager, who assisted me with several logistic issues on my end. He had a great attitude and was very proud of the hotel’s history. This demonstrates the importance of hotel staff on the quality of my stay. I would recommend requesting a room with a view of the hotel’s conservatory. This is an ornate quiet area, where I spent considerable time catching up on my reading. The hotel’s rich history, architectural grandeur, access to the Sporting Club, location in center city, richly appointed rooms, and quality of staff set a high bar and support a five star review.
