Great Stay!
We had a great stay at Sunscapes! Too many folks come here expecting it to be like a secrets, dreams, etc, and you can’t compare it to those. You get what you pay for. Service was great, food was good, and the beach/ocean is awesome. Bars do close at midnight which was initially disappointing, but probably for the best (my liver appreciated that). The best guacamole ever at the Tiki Taco. Can’t beat this for the price.

take the negative reviews with a pinch of salt!
i honestly cannot understand the amount of poor reviews for this hotel!!!! first of all reading the negative and bad reviews it seems as though maybe people are being slightly entitled? there was one review that gave a bad post because their bags were not carried for them! me, my husband and three children went here and we honestly had the most fabulous time. yes there are a few things that could be made better but this hotel is far from claiming to be world class! for example: - food in the buffet is slightly basic but it will do for the children, the other dining options however are fab meaning you can avoid the buffet if you wish! - the beach is by far one of the best beaches i have ever visited, calm and clear waters with fantastic marine life! i can honestly say it has beaten some of the beaches that i have seen in Mauritius for example - i say this as someone who has travelled extensively! - the main pool is nice, big and clean and great for kids, staff are attentive and make lovely drinks. adult only pool is lively and again makes fab drinks, sun club pool is quiet, still nice but i personally found it wasn't great for children, not because of the facilities but more because of the guests ( i could tell they were annoyed we had children there) - staff are all friendly, i had no negative experiences at all! i find if you treat people with kindness and respect they tend to do the same! - - these guys in the hotel work hard and some gratitude and acknowledgment of that is important, imagine how many people the deal with everyday add to it how many of them are rude and horrible! - the staff were excellent when it came to cleaning and sorting our room! they even provided extras for the baby and two other children! they even arranged their teddys in funny ways to make them enjoy their stay! this is sweet and makes the children smile! - the only gripe i did have was that we were on the very top floor with three children (one being 8 months old) and the lift was broken. they did offer to upgrade us at no extra but could only do this after a week due to being fully booked we chose not to however every time a member of staff saw us going up or down they always offered to help with a smile! - entertainment is absolutely brilliant! they work so hard and go to sooo much effort- my only thing is that it can be a little late sometimes this isnt great if you have young children but thats on us. this was honestly such a great family holiday for us! my children loved it and so did i ( me being the very fussy and particular traveller) please take the negative reviews with some caution!

Great place, great staff.
Terrific trip, 10 days and no complaints at all. Even with TS Lisa rolling by they all still made sure we were entertained. The grounds are beautiful, gardens and fountains around every corner.the location was close enough to everything we wanted to do. The food is what you expect with the exception of the olive branch which was amazing. All the ala cartes were slightly above usual I felt. The staff was super friendly. Special mentions go to Caleb who did a terrific class on making guacamole, as well as Seigio and Alma who gave a small group of us a very entertaining tequila tasting/history class. Fun as well as educational. We had Noeli at Coco cafe, I have never drank so much coffee as I did when she was there. She helped us with our Spanish and was a pleasure to speak with. Well, that's it. We leave tomorrow so I don't want to spend my whole evening on here. Great trip, don't hesitate.

Recommend
Beautiful place, smaller resort so more intimate friendly staff. The rooms are clean and nice. Food was good. The beach is not crowded. Short drive to Tulûm and Ruins. Entertainment could be better but overall I would go back.

Listen to the reviews and go anywhere else!!
We booked this hotel for our group of 13, and having stayed at Sunscape PV several times we ignored the reviews. Worked with the group coordinator months before, since we were celebrating 4 birthdays and the big "50" birthdays. Unlike PV, check-in was awful, waited hours in the Sun Club room and rooms were still not ready at 5 pm. Our doors were not decorated for birthdays or anything they promised. The Sun Club is a waste of money, the club lounge deck is disgusting the minimal food they put out is cold, dried-up crap food. The bar is nothing special and has no special alcohol. Anyone can use that area because they don't check at all, even at the SC pools. No private area on the beach for Sun Club and no waiters for any pools or beach. It's all go get your own! There are minimal chairs for the beach and pool, you need to reserve by 7 am or you are out of luck. Now if you are a smoker, stay away!!! NO smoking anywhere on the resort property even your patio/balcony. They have one smoking location in the front parking lot, that's it! This is a one-star resort with pretty pictures. If you've never stayed at an all-inclusive I can see how it may seem good, but it does not live up to the other Sunscape hotels or any hotel in my opinion. Spend the extra money and go to Akumal Wellness Beach Resort, that's a top-notch hotel.
