    Spectacular Aspirational property

    Spent 5 nights here last week, using Bonvoy's "use 4 nights worth of points, get a 5th night free" deal. Room was huge, pool was warm and there was always a quiet corner, and the beach was gorgeous. Friendly and helpful staff EVERYWHERE looking to make your stay more comfortable. Lots of chaises at the pool and the beach, and the food is all high quality. Bed was extremely comfortable. SO many towels. Resort fee of $85/night per room is very high, but includes golf cart transportation as needed, and all sorts of help at the pool and beach. Jugs of SPF 30 were well placed to protect you from the strong sun

    Great easy escape!

    We went non stop to San Juan. The St Regis Bahia Beach was about 30 minutes away. We walked on the beach every morning and collected sand dollars. The beach was big and the water was clear but the sand was not white. We loved finding the sand dollars and we were told the sand was whiter in other parts of the island. The staff was very attentive and the food was great. There were not many children there, but there was a great looking kids club with bounce pads in the water next to the golf course. I imagine during spring break it would be full of children. We had a great time! Later in the year I would investigate how many mosquitos they have, because there was bug spray everywhere.

    Paradise!!

    Awesome rooms especially Ocean front views. Private beach, Lots of entertainment, Best Service. Phew i forgot about the SPA!! I forgot myself in the SPA , one of the best i have ever been Please go to the local restaurant by the pool, their food is amazing. The waiters are the best for recommendations. Only one Recommendation, most of the hotel staff are always confused and they give improper information without asking others. Ex. they said the restaurant by the pool is closed by 5 PM, but we were walking down by 8 PM near the pool and the restaurant was open everyday till 10 PM. Glad we did a walk , otherwise we could have missed their awesome service and food.

    Miscommunication ruins the trip

    The room was spacious although I think the room could have used a better layout: it could use a bigger closet, less "hallway" space while sacrificing for a smaller shower (you could have a small dance party in the shower). There were some issues with the service. We requested a crib, baby amenities (baby shampoos, etc.), and a diaper genie ahead of arrival. We had to ask for the crib and amenities three times and we never received the diaper genie. This was supposed to be a 5-star hotel. Similar level of service would not have been tolerated at other 5-star properties we frequent (e.g., Four Seasons). In addition, the birds ruined the pool-side dining. A flock of local scavenger birds (grackles--which seemed like a smaller crow) had to be chased away every 30 seconds while eating at the pool area and the Seagrapes restaurant (where breakfast is served). They pooped everywhere (on the table, on the chairs, on the beach chairs, our stroller). Seeing them on the "clean" tables before breakfast was unsettling. We understood that there wasn't any short-term fixes for the birds, so it's not the staff's fault. Even though the staff even tried to lure them away from the restaurant with some food, it alleviated the problem for 30 minutes or so. Other 5-star places we stayed had a falconeer flying a falcon that circled the property regularly to keep the wild animals away in certain areas. However, the one single issue that ruined the whole experience was the miscommunication on the day of departure. TLDR: the hotel took a long time to fix their miscommunication (30 minutes) that left me and my family extremely frustrated and stressed in our wet swimsuit before we had to leave for the airport on our departure day. Long story: I had a late checkout privilege (due to Amex Fine Hotel) which I foolishly did not exercise at the time of arrival (our flight was originally scheduled to depart at noon). On the day of departure the airline notified me that the flight was delayed for 6 hours. I wanted to see if they hotel could still grant me the 4pm late checkout. Unfortunately, they said that the room was booked for another guest which I understood. The front desk assured me, however, that our family could use the spa facility to take a shower and change. I was traveling with my family of 5 (including 2 children and 1 infant) and the hotel should have had this record. When it was time for my family to get ready and leave the hotel (about 1 hour prior to the limo service to the airport), my children were denied entrance to spa due to "18 and over" policy for "safety reasons". Some of their useless solutions included "adults can use the facilities" (and leave the children outside the spa), "we can use the lobby restroom to change" (but couldn't shower), etc. After wasting 15 minutes at the spa (in our wet swimsuit and a carry-on), I then walked over and talked (angrily, but without shouting) to the reception desk, telling them that, if the front desk told me that our children couldn't use the spa, then we would not have gone into the pool and done outdoor activities that would require a shower between checkout and departure. The hotel eventually did provide us a clean room to change the shower albeit after wasting 30 minutes (again, in our wet swimsuit with our carry-on). I could see that another staff was working on making a spa rule exception. Once they had a solution, the staff moved fast to get us into the room and get us back for the limo pickup. Nevertheless, despite the eventual resolution, this experience somewhat ruined the whole hotel stay for me.

    It honestly doesn't get better

    We left the kids home. The drive from San Juan to the resort was a little long but well worth it. We were surprised to see how many families there were at the resort but with only 200 guest rooms(I believe) and sprawling grounds it was quite and relaxing. The grounds were AMAZING!! You can have the beach experience and move to the pool for the tropical rain forest experience. The staff was attentive and friendly. The only issue was the food/drinks were inconsistent. However, they were quick to fix whenever there were issues. Would definitely recommend for a family, a wedding (which we saw and looked fantastic) or just a getaway. We will most definitely return. A TIP: When ordering adult beverages...ALWAYS ask for a FLOATER :)
