More like a decent 2 star
Priceline calls it 3.5 star and I think it's more of a decent 2 star. The amenities might count for those stars, but since they are all closed they should be graded on just the room and probably refund people a certain amount based on each(Pool, Artbar, etc). The lobby looks nice and modern. The front desk was friendly. Didn't really give you any info except where the elevator was. They have security, but there were always people hanging around outside and in the lobby. The elevator did require a room key card to use which was good. The room I got for 98 was a small room with a king bed. The A/C was adjustable but never seemed to cool the room and would change back to auto fan and stop blowing cold air after a short time. The TV had a discoloration across the top 6 inches or so. The security latch looked like it had been busted in on previously and the bathroom door had been repaired then re-gouged like someone got locked inside. The light switch in the bathroom is behind the door... When someone in another room close by was using the toilet you could smell it in the bathroom and by the door of the room really strongly. The cleansing products in the shower were mango based unfortunately so we had to go buy some because my girlfriend is allergic. The mattress looked a bit compressed but was comfy and smelled cleaned though the box spring has stains on the sides. We had a decent view and it was close to anything we could need though. Maybe the extended stay part of the hotel is nicer but what I saw was about 2 star worthy.
I always loved this hotel until last visit, room was dirty, restroom was a nightmare (tub full of hair) I had to clean myself cause I drove for 7 hours to the slowest check in at 5am, this hotel was my first choice every time I visited. On My previous visit I even subscribed for travel pass, before this I’ve never had trouble doing the reservation thru Expedia (always faster and cheaper), this time I called the hotel and wanted to do it directly even with them charging me more than expedia per night, they couldnt find my travel pass member number at the time of reservation so they gave me normal rate $98 for that night, ok I accepted it and added one more night before checkout time, they gave me a travel pass rate $89 for the next night I have the reservation in my email, at the end of my stay they charged me $98 for each night and also charged me an extra night, I endup paying 3 night instead of 2 and at $98 dollars each, when I called to explain they were rude (two customer service animals) they did the refund cause I was right, they are just not trained well on their system. Asked them for the receipt and never sent it until I called again, sent the wrong one, had to call again, I regret not taking pictures of the dirtiest room/bathroom ever! When I went to front desk to do check out and check in for the extra night the lady at the front desk was chatting with someone there (not a customer), she just kept talking and acted like I interrupted her or disturbed her when she was finally done to help me. I dont know what happened to employees there!! They used to be very professional and kind, not anymore!
Have alot of concern of thoses individuals who are perm guest. Had to deal with a individual on the first floor staring at my wife, to the point I had to say something. Second issue, I stayed on 5th floor on the suite side and had to deal with people talking loud in the room next to me all night, and another room with a bird of some sort. Overall the stay was good, but these issues need to be addressed.
My stay at Sonesta Gwinnett was wonderful. All staff members I encountered were friendly and helpful. My room was clean and had extra touches that could only be provided by a team member that truly cares. The food in their restaurants was good. I hope I have the opportunity to stay at Sonesta Gwinnett again!
Better than expected
Booked this hotel as a host hotel for my daughters gymnastics competition and couldn't have been happier. Staff is extremely friendly always greeting you when u walk through the lobby and asking if there was anything you need. There is a little gift shop in the lobby also, which is great if you forget anything at home! Several food choices are very close to the hotel and there is also an Asian Market place/ grocery store across the street.
