The Beacon Grand is the best, first class, friendly and comfortable with a great location!
I had some trouble figuring out where to stay until I walked up the stairs at The Beacon to find Monica at the front desk, She talked with me about the other hotels I was considering almost like we were old friend, she was so welcoming willing to take time to speak with me which is rare these days. After we spoke for a bit I decided this was the place for me and was so glad I did. My stay here was everything I was looking for and more. The hotel is gorgeous, clean , comfy and every staff member I came in contact with were friendly just like her. I will be back!!!!

Staycation
We were treated with warmth and professionalism that truly sets this hotel apart. Alex, the bellman, was a standout! Not only did he help save me from being hit by a speeding car, but he was incredibly knowledgeable about things to do in the city and gave us fantastic dinner recommendations. I also have to give a special shoutout to the manager, Monica who was outstanding. Her attention to detail and genuine care for guests were apparent in every interaction. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. We will definitely be a returning guest and if you get the chance to meet either Alex or Monica, you will see firsthand how instantly you feel their care.

Comfortable Hotel, Convenient Location
The Beacon Grand is a comfortable hotel in a great location in San Francisco: near Union Square, the cable cars, and Moscone Center. A unique feature: the water bottles in the room are metal, with refill stations on each floor, which is a thoughtful alternative to plastic water bottles.

Truly Special
I booked myself a belated birthday treat at the Beacon Grand. The hotel delivered in every possible way. Doormen greeted me like they were wondering where I'd been. Reception staff were prompt and efficient: Leif checked me in as though I were the hotel's most important guest, ever. My high-floor corner room (1914) was spectacular. From the southern window, I could see Union Square, to the west, Grace Cathedral (above Powell Street's merrily clanging cable cars). South and west-facing windows made the space bright and airy, while the deep blue walls gave a modern touch. The bed was super comfortable, the bedding luxe. A well-designed seating area with sofa, arm chairs, coffee and occasional tables, plus two leather stools, made me wonder who I could invite for an impromptu cocktail party. Speaking of cocktails, I spent an enjoyable hour in the hotel's gorgeous Post Room, with its magnificently decorated 18-ft ceilings. Attentive servers brought me a perfect French 75, then oysters on the half shell with a tart mignonette. I was not expecting entertainment but I was delighted by pianist-vocalist Courtney Kelly. Mentally playing "name that tune," only half listening, I became a fan with Kelly's fourth tune. I couldn't place it: a moody, introspective number I eventually recognized as Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" (but born a different way). Brilliant! I also took in another Beacon Grand must-see: the Starlight Room. I visited in the 1970s, when it was stodgy and staid -- not anymore. The elegant and eclectically furnished bar, with its 360 degree views of San Francisco, was already Hopping at 8 pm, when I popped in for the sunset. Fog ate my sunset, sadly, but I still had a great time chatting with patrons, watching the bartenders make fancy drinks, and marveling at the DJ's extensive vinyl library. I also treated myself to an excellent room service breakfast: a large pot of delicious coffee and avocado toast with cherry tomatoes, arugula, thinly sliced pickled radish, and pumpkin seeds. So good! One more thing: the Beacon Grand is only a few blocks' up Powell Street from the BART station of the same name. Excellent theatres and music venues are all around. Next door is the beautifully reimagined Union Square, which now serves as a European-style piazza, perfect for strolling, people-watching, and picnicking at the scattered umbrella tables and chairs. The square now offers family-friendly activities like ping-pong, and a lineup of free events -- it was karaoke the day I visited. I'm not a shopper, but Beacon Grand is also convenient if you have a mind to drop into Nieman-Marcus, catty-corner from the hotel, for an all-designer makeover. All in all, this was the quintessential San Francisco treat that I had been hoping for: it was a trip down memory lane that came with new and happy surprises.

Attentive service.
Great location. Excellent service from the time you arrive to time of departure. Nice to have The Post Room on site for meals as well as cocktails.
