Sheraton Waikiki Oceanfront Room – Misleading View Experience|シェラトン・ワイキキの「オーシャンフロント」は本当に海が見える?
We booked and paid for an Oceanfront Room at Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort, expecting a premium view of Waikiki Beach. What we got instead: a view of another hotel building and overgrown trees—with no ocean in sight. When we raised the issue, the front desk insisted three times that this was an oceanfront room. Only after we firmly pushed back—mentioning we had stayed here before and knew what a real oceanfront view looked like—did they suddenly “find” the correct room type with the view we had paid for. That room was magically available all along. It didn’t feel like a mistake. It felt like they were hoping we wouldn’t question it. Sketchy, misleading, and not okay for a resort of this level. If you’re staying here: • Take photos of your view immediately. Compare it with what was advertised. • Push back if something’s off. Don’t let vague reassurances stand. • Be polite, but firm. You have the right to the room you paid for. • Know that service isn’t proactive. Unlike what you expect, you can’t expect hospitality without speaking up. Holding the front desk accountable doesn’t just protect your experience—it improves it for future guests, too. ⸻ シェラトン・ワイキキ・ビーチ・リゾートでオーシャンフロントの部屋を予約・支払いしました。 しかし案内されたのは、隣のホテルと手入れされていない木々の景色。海はまったく見えませんでした。 フロントに確認したところ、3回にわたり「これがオーシャンフロントです」と言い張られました。 しかし「以前も宿泊していて本当の眺望を知っている」と伝えて粘ると、突然「正しい部屋」が**“たまたま”見つかる**という展開に。 最初から空いていたなら、なぜ出さなかったのか? 手違いではなく、黙っていればそのまま済まそうとしていたのでは…と疑いたくなる対応でした。 宿泊予定の方へのアドバイス: • チェックイン直後に景色を確認し、写真を撮っておく。 • 違和感があればすぐにフロントに伝える。 • 遠慮せず、丁寧かつはっきり主張することが大切。 • 日本と違い、黙っていても対応してくれるとは限りません。 声を上げることが、自分の体験を守るだけでなく、次の宿泊者への改善にもつながります。

Good first time experience
The hotel was very busy during our stay, but overall, we had a really good experience. The location is excellent—everything you need is close by, including shops, restaurants, and attractions. One of the highlights of our stay was our housekeeper, Roger. He was incredibly helpful, always cheerful, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. His positive attitude really made a difference and added a personal touch to our visit. It’s not often you come across such genuinely kind and happy staff. Thanks to Roger and the central location, our trip was convenient and enjoyable.

Beautiful and relaxing!!
The hotel was very clean and quiet. The pool and surroundings were gorgeous! Although the beach was busy, you could easily find a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Swimming in the ocean was so relaxing and there was a sandbar that was easy to get to. The hotel was super busy but it was easy getting an elevator.

5 Stars for our friend Roger! Our stay was made unforgettable thanks to the incredible hospitality of Roger, our housekeeper. From day one, he greeted us with kindness, made us feel at home, and went above and beyond to ensure our room was always in perfect condition. Over the days, we built a genuine connection with him—his positive attitude and attention to detail stood out. Roger truly embodies what great service looks like, and he deserves major recognition. Thank you, Roger, for being such a meaningful part of our trip! 9th floor section 1!!

Caution for Parents—Injury in the Pool at Sheraton Waikiki
We’ve been loyal Marriott guests for years, staying at properties all over the world, but our experience at the Sheraton Waikiki was unexpectedly distressing. During our first pool visit, our 8-year-old son stepped on a 2.5mm piece of metal on the Cabo shelf in the pool, which lodged into his foot. It was a painful and scary experience. Security responded quickly and escorted us to the hotel’s on-site doctor, who was thankfully available to remove the metal piece. Had he not been there, we would have ended up in the ER, likely cutting our vacation short. While the hotel manager did agree to reimburse us for our poolside cabanas, we were disappointed that this was the extent of their support. A serious injury like this warranted more attention and follow-up from hotel leadership. The location is great, but safety and service standards fell short. We’re sharing this so other families can stay alert and hopefully avoid a similar situation.
