    Old and worn

    Checked in online earlier but arrived around 8:30. I had booked directly through Marriott and reserved an ocean view suite with balcony. When I asked what room I got, was told I would be on the first floor, looking into the pool area basically. I asked if there is another room, that is not what I expected and if there is an upgrade with my Gold Member status. Robert, the person at checkin, said that was an upgrade. I looked at him and said really, the same room I booked and one on the first floor was an upgrade? He either thought I was an idiot or he had no clue what he is doing. I told him I would like another room, not in first floor and maybe one on third floor where our friends were. He did found one on the 3rd floor and then started to make the keys and I asked again, did he find another room. He responded yes, on the 3rd floor like I should have known. The room is exactly what I booked and no upgrade again. I can’t imagine the hotel during low season being full and can’t get a room that is higher up. Then the room itself - it is a nice decent size suite. But very worn out. The pull out mattress is so worn out and full of stains. I had to ask for extra blanket since there wasn’t one for the pull out sofa bed. There is no hooks or shelves or anywhere to hang the towels near the sink. We improvised by hanging a hanger on the mirror to hang our wash clothes. There is a single hook behind bathroom door. Again, I had to hang out towels on the closet door using a hanger. These little things irk me! How can they have only 1 single hook in bathroom! The heater was loud and not working well. I can set it to 72 but feel it was still cold, we set it to 77 and then felt like it was 70. When you turn on the hot water in shower, it made this really loud noise. We were also 2 families and when we got some food and wants to eat together there was no place for us to do so inside the hotel. The restaurant had a lounge area and did not allowed you to bring outside food. The front desk person didn’t know that when we asked where we can eat and sent us to the lounge area. The restaurant manager came and told us it was against health code to eat outside there. But didn’t offer us any other option and when asked if we should move he said it was ok but we shouldn’t have done that. Overall the hotel was convenient but won’t come here again. If we do comeback, we will try the Marriott a little further down. Marriott price was only a little more also.

    Pet friendly but need to update.

    Old Hotel with Sheraton Brand. Need to update everything. Hole in the carpet. Dust on nightstand. Wallpaper is almost fallen. Access door from boardwalk without card-lock. You can not get in from boardwalk. Breakfast is not good. I guess they served soggy croissant like frozen croissant melted from microwave oven. Staff was OK . Restaurant server was kind. Per Friendly.

    Beach stay needs updates

    Very disappointed in hotel quality. Worn out furnishings everywhere we went including the restaurant. Squeaky swivel chair in bar area. Slow kitchen for sandwiches and salad. Food good. Drinks fine but no personality in bar staff. Had to get up and order our own drinks because waitress disappeared. Read this same complaint on line. Titanium Marriott members so was upgraded to a small suite great views but rust on door sills in room poor lighting and no towel racks anywhere. Slow response with one of the TVs. Didn't get offered water at check in but happily provided them to us when we asked. Mold in the bathroom and chipped tub. Commode very low. When nextdoor customers close their door our wall shakes. Can hear normal volume conversation from nextdoor. Front desk staff very helpful. Didn't know they had valet till they asked us if we wanted it, no one approached us when we checked in and no one was waiting out front. The suite had florescent lights so it's dim lighting until they warm up. Fridge in room has cord run through front of cabinet, really? After one night stay we left. Changed to another Marriott that cost less but was better maintained. This Sheraton needs remodeling. I was SPG and Marriott member for years. Needs work. Glad new Marriott on beach is about to open.

    Excellent service from start to finish

    I was recently at the Sheraton to lead a professional meeting for about 130 participants. My wife came along. The meeting events all went right as scheduled, and the ocean front setting was very appealing. After arriving home, we realized my wife's Mac laptop and a textbook got left behind. The hotel staff were most reassuring and helpful in finding them and arranging for shipping to our house. They even enclosed a kind card with the package. Highly recommend this place, whether for a meeting or just a nice getaway on the beach. (In addition to the sand, there are also separate boardwalk and bicycle trails).

    Great short trip

    Made reservation a couple days ahead, unable to cancel without a charge, asked about pet fees and was told none. Made the reservation and a $100 pet fee was added, I was upset so I called the hotel and asked again, they assured me the pet fee would not be charged, it will be removed at check in. We arrived and checked in, no pet fee, I was happy. I asked how much to upgrade to an oceanfront room, she upgraded us at no charge! I was very happy now, the room was very good and as clean as any hotel room. Traveling with a pet is new for us and our last 2 stays have been with Sheraton hotels, they will be the first one we check next time. Location was great, right on the boardwalk, I know it is off season, but the entire staff was nice and friendly.
