Don't hesitate this is where you want to stay!!

Overall the hotel was great! The restaurant in particular had great food and the most amazing service. Brain, our waiter for all meals by request was beyond helpful. He gave as much attention to my mother as he did to my 9yr old. If that was not enough the restaurant manager Laurrain was exceptional. As busy as she was, she found time to come speak Spanish with my daughter for practice. Great hotel...Great staff.....Great time!!

    Great stay!

We had a great stay at the hotel. At first I thought it might be weird staying at an airport hotel but it wasn't at all. It was just a very short drive to the downtown. Our room was very large and clean. The staff were all very nice, especially Victor who was our waiter 2 times during our stay. He could not have been nicer and none of us could get over how he remembered the names of all the people he waited on! The weather wasn't terrific so we didn't use all the offerings but we will during our next visit for sure.

    Will definitely come back

Anthony really made our trip special. He offered to help us out and even took multiple pictures of our family in our last day. In addition, the hotel is just excellent. The rooms are extremely nice, the scents are really pleasant, and the balconies give a great view of the city and the bay.

Oh Boy (sigh)! How bad staff communication must be...

There are 2 properties along the marina (across from the San Diego airport) separated by about a lovely 8 minute walk. Our conference stay was at the "Bay" property. No problems with the perfectly organized meeting and its apparent support by the hotel management. But the hotel itself is not in good shape (note: peeling wall paper in the conference rooms, a broken thermostat in my room, absence of the auxiliary equipment for the multipurpose machine in the workout room, a toilet tank that leaked rusty water when one pushed back on it). But there were some extraordinary problems in, let’s call it communication, from the seemingly competent/responsive front desk staff over my four night stay. Let me explain. 1a, The bathroom vent was stuffed with toilet paper (maybe someone prior was cold??). I reported that to Front Desk as I reported a band-aid I found stuck to the wall just outside of the shower. The band-aid was apparently clean (someone had removed it after a shower, I suppose) so it didn’t bother me except that cleaning crew had not removed it. I reported those things three times, on the evening of my arrival, the next morning, and that evening. Nothing happened beyond the promise of Front Desk to take care of it. I saw him write a note about it. On the third morning I told front desk again about the band-aid and they promised to have Housekeeping do a “deep cleaning.” I suppose that happened, but the bandaid-- in plain sight, eye level, right outside of the shower--never moved. 1b. I complained to Front Desk and said I should get some kind of fee reduction. He said I could have a $60 adjustment…and he wrote another note to this effect. THIS IS AMAZING: when I checked my bill the day after check-out I found NO ADJUSTMENT (I wrote the hotel and they did revise the billing). 2. the first night my room was quite cold and the thermostat made no difference. The second evening a Maintenance man came to the room and pulled out all the toilet tissue from the vent. I asked him to look at the HVAC. He serviced the machine itself. Now the room was way too hot all night! Problem reported in morning and that evening Maintenance was back. He set something to moderate the HVAC and said the thermostat was bad and he’d be back in ½ hour with a new one. He did not come back, but the moderate temperature was fine for the next two nights. You have already read my etceteras in the first paragraph above. OH BOY! (sigh) The other property down the marina looked great and the work-out room was fabulous! I was a little surprised to see that same Front Desk person at the other Front Desk when I came in on my way to work out. This indicates that the two hotels are under a single management. If I write that I smell a rat, please don’t take that literally. Both places appear perfectly clean. But there are problems below the surface.

Nice updated hotel in Liberty Station

I stayed at this hotel in late October because I had a conference nearby. Our group booked updated rooms in the main tower — the tower that hasn’t been updated yet isn’t attached to the main hotel, it’s a 5-10 minute walk along the marina. When we arrived the hotel claimed that we hadn’t booked updated rooms and told us they were sold out and couldn’t do anything about it. When a manager got involved and realized my friend was a platinum Marriott member, he was quick to correct the situation and apologize for the inconvenience. Apparently, when we called the hotel a month before to book our room block, the person working in the reservation gave us inaccurate information about the two types of rooms and where they were within the resort. Thankfully, most of our group received updated rooms in the main tower the day of check-in, one had to move the next day. Ben at the front desk was amazing and really helped turn our initial check-in experience around. The updated rooms are really nice and clean. Everything felt fresh and new, and I really appreciated having a walk-in shower, I hate having to deal with the shower curtains. The bed was comfortable, I had a nice view of the Harbor bridge and had ample space. There was a nice table and bench seat that I used to take a few work calls during my stay. The main lobby is really nice, and there seem to be good food options - we ate at the restaurant when we arrived and the food was good. The main hotel overlooks the marina, and had so much outdoor space for us to relax and enjoy the view. This hotel is also really close to the airport and offers a shuttle, which was nice. Despite the rocky start, this hotel was a nice option for the airport / liberty station area. I appreciated the updated rooms and the hotels location and ambience. I plan to stay here again for my next conference in the Liberty Station area of San Diego.
