Good value great location
Good value great location rooms a bit dated but not a complaint clean and tidy, hotel Is busy held a dancing competition when we were there lots of nationalities not far from Times Square and right beside the subway. I would stay again staff helpful enough lifts a bit slow. Beds really small

A New York Christmas Trip
Lovely hotel, central to everything. Rooms spotless, staff brilliant. View of higher floors worth the additional cost. The place to stay when visiting the Big Apple.

Great location...
Very central hotel currently under renovation, which made communal areas very crowded with a make shift entrance/exit. Unfortunately, there was no prior warning of this. The wait for a lift at times was longer than acceptable. Room was average; no fridge, which was disappointing, the windows were very dirty and our toilet stopped flushing on our last morning just before check out. It was, however, a great size and beds were very comfortable. Not sure I would recommend this hotel. I've read the standard response to negative reviews about not changing the past, etc, which sums up the customer service.

A decent experience, partly a matter of luck.
Our experience here was adequate, but that was partly a matter of luck. We checked in at 12.15 pm on a Sunday in July and did not experience the excessive check-in delays others spoke of. Similarly, we had no problems with the elevators that operated quite quickly and efficiently. We were pleasantly surprised to be given immediate check-in without any additional fees. Both the reception and the room were somewhat dingy and dated, but cleanliness was sufficient. The room had basic amenities (no fridge, and 2 hallway ice machines did not work). Temperature controls worked well The beds were higher than average, which was difficult if you had limited mobility, and reception could not provide a step stool to assist. I knocked off one star because we could hear the neighbors quite clearly through a connecting door, though luckily, they barely spoke. As the "resort fee" could be spent as a credit up till the day before departure (don't know if it rolled over between days as we only stayed for 1 ), but we made little use of this - much better if it could have been used on the day of departure as well. As a light sleeper, I would hesitate to stay here again for fear of having noisy neighbors, but it was not as bad as many reviews describe, and it has a great location.

Sadly a complete and utter let down
Where to begin? The hotel was booked through Virgin Holidays are a recommended location, if your arriving at Penn Station from JFK be mindful if your walking up 7th Avenue with your luggage its 19 blocks up a trek! Once inside the hotel all I can say is disorganised chaos! the reception area was manic people all over the place turns out there was a childrens dance competion in all the ballrooms so the hotel was simply ridiculous, we checked in and asked on a number of occasions if the room had a fridge? the chap on reception advised no and would see if any was around? in the end we upgraded to the suite on level 17, price wasnt to bad to be fair $680 extra for four nights. Now the lifts in the hotel are an ordeal, you waste your time waiting for them, the lifts do not have the conventional press a button in the lift and select your floor, no its a keypad outside the lift, select the floor get allocated a lift and wait, be prepated we waited 20 minutes one night, in the end I climbed 17 flights of stairs to get to my room, it really is the most ridiculous system ever. Rooms are spacious and the beds are unbeleivably comfortable I cannot fault the room apart from in our suite we had faulty AC in one room it was like an oven and the other part of the room had a cold shower only? reported to reception it was reftified but unacceptable. The bar area can be a farce when busy, we entered the bar on 05th July passing a queue I believed was for food, only for the bar manager to approach us at the bar and humiliate us in front of a busy bar asking us why we had cut the line ? and bypassed the line? i advised him embarrassed that we didnt realise the line down the corridor was for drinks as well as food! as nobody was there policing it how would he? we immediatley went to the back of the line and wiated. In conclustion disappointed is the word i'd use, i've stayed in many Manhattan hotels sadly the chaos and the lack of control caused me to distance myself and feel isolated, we won't be coming back sorry
