    Wonderful!

Outstanding Service from Josh the Valet! During our recent stay, one of the most memorable parts of our experience was the exceptional service provided by Josh, the valet. From the moment we pulled up to the property, Josh greeted us with a genuine smile and a level of professionalism that instantly made us feel welcome. He was not only efficient with handling our vehicle but went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Whether it was helping with luggage, offering local recommendations, or simply checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly during our stay, Josh’s dedication to guest satisfaction was obvious. What really stood out was his attention to detail and positive attitude. Even during busy hours, he remained calm, courteous, and focused on giving each guest his full attention. It’s rare to see someone take so much pride in their role, and Josh exemplified what true hospitality looks like.

Weird, but not in a good way

Theme/style is weird. If you like weird for the sake of different, then maybe… The attached garage situation is super inconvenient and weird. It’s ~$50/night for self parking and requires you go to a website, and then use their online portal to register your car details (take your rental paperwork with you), enter cc details as front desk does not link your stay with the car. Garage does not feel safe. Not sure why Marriott is associated with this location… Weird and not in a good way

    3 star motel

It’s 10:30p on a Wednesday and the music has been blasting from the street below since 8p. I’m on the 10th floor and miserable. Not a place to stay for high end quality and rest. Party motel vibe. I’m absolutely miserable and stuck here for two nights. Will never stay here again. 3 star hotel at best. Coffee in room is Hampton Inn level coffee maker but with no creamer.

Unsafe Parking, Major Theft, and Uncaring Management – Very Disappointed

I stayed at Downright Austin Renaissance Hotel from the 11th to 13th o May, and unfortunately had one of the most distressing experiences I’ve ever had at a hotel. While parked overnight in the hotel’s on-site parking lot (which I was charged $50 USD per night to use), my rooftop cargo bag (Roofpax) was stolen directly off my vehicle. The stolen items included personal belongings essential for my extended road trip. To my shock, the parking lot had: • A broken access barrier that remained open all night, • Very few working surveillance cameras, • No visible security presence. When I reported the theft to hotel staff, I was met with complete indifference. No urgency, no apology, and no effort to review footage or investigate. I was also denied access to security footage and little to no help addressing the issue with the police. I expected far better from a Marriott-branded hotel. At the very least, I expected a sense of responsibility and empathy from management when a guest experiences a major loss under their watch. If you’re considering staying here and traveling with valuables—or simply expect safety and professionalism—I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I would expect more from any hotel, but especially one carrying the Marriott name.

    Comfortable.

Comfortable beds and plenty of pillows. AC works fantastically. Mini-fridge but no microwave. Only working ice machine was difficult to find. After 2000 steps I found it on Floor 5 on the I-35 side of the hotel. The Swim Club restaurant has a limited menu. Could not hear interstate traffic on higher floors. Smoking areas are conveniently located at several areas around the property. Walkable to Target/Whole Foods. Easy walk to Sixth Street though you will pass by a lot of homeless folks but no one bothered us.
