Exceptional Staff, Beautiful Suite, but Much-Needed Renovations Await
We recently stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres for 11 days, and while our experience had its highlights, there were also some aspects that fell short. First, I want to commend the staff who truly made our stay memorable. Tomas at Himitsu provided exceptional service and made each dining experience special. Our housekeeper, Istela, took great care of us and ensured our room was always spotless and comfortable. Martha, who attended to the Bali beds, was incredibly attentive and made sure everyone’s needs were met, adding a touch of luxury to our relaxation by the pool. Luis, the server at Portofino, also stood out with his friendly and attentive service, enhancing our dining experience. However, the property itself is in definite need of renovations. We stayed in the master suite, which came with its own pool and provided a nice touch of privacy and luxury. Unfortunately, every day, there was a flood outside our room due to a persistent leak. This ongoing issue highlighted the overall state of disrepair within the building. We learned that the hotel is closing in April for major renovations, which is certainly needed. If we hadn’t booked the master suite with the private pool, we would have been extremely disappointed and might not have stayed for the full duration of our visit. The current state of the property, without those added amenities, would not have met our expectations for an extended stay. Overall, while the service from the staff was outstanding and some amenities made our stay enjoyable, the need for significant renovations is clear. I look forward to seeing the improvements after the planned updates.

Best Entertainment Staff!
We did a couples trip for a nice extended weekend and had such a great time disconnecting and enjoying the onsite activities. We didn’t even need to leave as they have so many options at Secret to cater to the Guests. Carlos went above and beyond to ensure the 4 of us enjoyed our stay. From inviting us to activities, general conversation and just making us smile, we had such a great time because of him and the entertainment staff. I don’t see how anyone can wake up and have a bad day here with how dedicated they all are to the Guests, especially Carlos and Bryan . Thank you for helping us have a wonderful time and helping me to laugh more with my husband while enjoying a time away from kids. It means more than you know!

The Guest Gets What The Guest Gets
This was our 1st time staying at a Secrets property and our first trip to Cancun in 7 years. We were attending our friends 10 year vow renewal and entered the experience with an open mind and no expectations. We booked preferred club and stayed for a week, 10/26-11/2. The total cost was just shy of $4,600 for an Ocean View Room. We joined Hyatt before our trip for free and automatically obtained the Discoverist travel tier. Upon arrival, our first impressions were that the property is beautiful. Despite our overall negative review, the property is beautiful. The property is approximately 45 minutes north of Cancun in the secluded area of Playa Mujeres. We love this area in general and were not disappointed with the location. The property itself is split up into 3 areas, or 4 if you include Dreams. All guests have access to Dreams Playa Mujeres via a short golf cart or walk away. The 1st area is the main lobby. You then take a golf cart to the room area where there are 2 large connected pools and a few hot tubs. 1 pool has a swim up bar. We were in building 2 which is the building closest to the ocean. As a preferred club member we had access to a private lounge/check in, with a bar and some food. This is the only preferred lounge on property, the bar is tiny, and the seating limited. While the food here was good, the area itself will not seat many parties. Also, it has the feel of a hotel check in as opposed to a place to relax. What else did we get with preferred club? There was a breakfast area for preferred club on the opposite side of the hotel from our room, which we did not take advantage of. We also got 2 sessions of hydrotherapy. That’s it. If we had not done preferred club we would have saved approx. $2,000. Preferred club is simply not worth it. Our second night we did the Hibachi grill. We had a great experience. I got a bacterial infection and so did another member of our party. After taking Imodium for 3 days with no effect, I consulted a physician at home and took antibiotics that were sold on property. This did clear up the issue after spending multiple days sick as a dog. The glasses throughout the resort did not appear to be clean and frankly looked gross. We ordered room service twice. Both occasions items were brought that we didn’t order and what we did order wasn’t provided. On the first occasion despite calling, requesting via the app, and having housekeeping come, our room service was left in the pickup cubby for 3 days. Just gross. We had many meals were the waiters just disappeared for 30 minutes between courses. No drinks, no water, and we were served items we didn’t order. We ordered extra pillows, less was brought than we asked for. The best service we had was from Mario at the French restaurant. The resort is closing in April. There’s no reason to visit between now and then. It’s under construction, loud in the morning, and throughout the day as they are painting. There’s no reason to visit here until after renovation. Many areas are in need of repair and it just doesn’t scream excellence. There are so many great options in the Cancun area, and no reason to water your money on subpar. Go to Excellence Playa Mujeres instead, you won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful Vacation - Faultless
We thoroughly enjoyed the resort and could not fault it at all. The moment we arrived were greeted with a champagne flute and then taken to reception, where we were greeted by a very lovely lady, Carla at reception. She made our welcome very warm and comfortable, and was able to assist us with all our questions! The resort was fabulous, the all inclusive options were brilliant, together with Dreams, there were so many options and in 2 weeks we didnt get to all of them due to wanting to go back to some of our favourites ! The staff in the buffet breakfast/lunch restaurant were very attentive special shout out to Ruben and Miranbel. Around the pool and beach, sunbeds and towels were plentiful, Jamie at the Pool Concierge was very helpful and looked after us most days. Thank you Jamie ! The Entertainment team were brilliant, the best I have come across on our vacations. All very helpful (especially when I wanted to watch West Ham!!) - The day entertainment really made the time fly, Water Volleyball especially ! There was so much to occupy yourself (if you so wanted) and the team were brilliant and always game for a laugh ! A big thank you to them all, Jesus, Enrique, Daniela, Juan, Brayan, Carlos, Felix, Antonio and Ulises !!! Chicharito !!!!! Rob & Mandie

30yrs in still happy in love!
Really enjoyed our stay. Pool staff is excellent. All the staff was fantastic. Wish there was earlier entertainment, The magician was not that good but the one at dreams was hysterical they should use him. silent disco was really fun! Lobby bar needs something nightly, if not a band then a DJ. The poolside buffets were not enjoyed, my meat was as hard as the sole of a mans dress shoe. But the entertainment poolside at those buffets was great. a lot of what we did not enjoy we are chalking up to the resort getting ready to go through major renovations. Cant wait to go back after renovations are completed.
