Incredible!!!
If you like a low key resort satisfying your ever need for a lush incredible nature environment then Secrets is the place. The Spa area is great for chilling, drinking and reading as many books as you can. Interrupted only by the slithering of iguanas around your area. So very cool. A simple walk down the beach gives you the more entertaining side with water aerobics and different sorts of classes' from Yoga to bracelet making. All of course with a beverage at hand which is always readily available. All in all its a 10* location.

10/10
Amazing vacation in such a beautiful country. The staff at Secrets are incredibly gracious and kind. Food and drinks are served in a timely manner. The food and drinks were always delicious. The staff are always there if you need something and are eager to help. You will be welcomed with smiles everywhere you go. The views are stunning. The beach was both fun and romantic. They have many activities you can choose to participate in throughout the day. The care for the environment is appreciated. This place is perfect for both exploring and relaxation. The cleanliness and attention to detail is incredible. The ONLY thing that bothered me was the depth of the main pool, I am 5’ so I couldn’t really reach the bottom but the other pool is a bit shallower. Overall this was an amazing trip that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

Beautiful location
This was a beautiful property. Enjoy the views and the accommodations. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. My husband and I came for our 25th anniversary and have no regrets. We both had a wonderful time resting, exploring, and meeting new people.

Costa Rica is great, Secrets is average
CR is a great country. I recommend the trip itself. LIR is a 10-gate airport with AC, shops and restaurants. The resort itself was average. Every night, music was blaring until 11/12 and there is not a place you can stay where you don’t hear it. Some might like that, but we wanted to relax and rest, not go to a rave every night. We paid extra for VIP and an ocean view room, but I’m not sure what VIP really got us. The “ocean view” was a partial view at best, but the resort accommodated after we made a call and we ended up in a different location with a great view, albeit at the top of the highest hill. The resort is basically in a jungle so if it says “ocean view,” I would lower expectations as you might be able to see a sliver of water through the trees. We enjoyed the beach and ocean. It’s on the Pacific side, so the water wasn’t Caribbean blue and the sand wasn’t white. We didn’t mind, it’s just a note to make. All beaches are public in CR, so non-resort affiliated folks had their jet ski businesses right there (and other things to sell you each time you walked to the beach), parked where guests would try to come in to the water and chill. The jet skis came and went all day long, every day. We would be hanging out in the water, fighting the jet skis who would want to park where we were wading. The smell of gasoline was an added bonus. I would look up Alex on the Beach and Frank the Tank on FB - they do tours in CR and are on point. Food was actually really good, prob some of the best we’ve had. No reservations required, dress code for 1 place but if men didn’t wear long pants, they simply sat you outside. They had pickleball courts as well, which we appreciated and throughly enjoyed. The spa was an average Joe’s spa that you’d find in a strip mall. I only had a pedicure so maybe the massage areas are better. The hotel staff called every single day, multiple times a day….. one time I was still in bed. If it wasn’t about whether or not we wanted our room cleaned, it was about coming to collect my “coupon book” of points to use while we were there. We got 200 points, and I thought I could just use them all at the spa. Nope. It’s like 10 points for wine, 40 points for spa visit - you can’t use them all in one place. The calls were annoying, but I figured it’s bc the cleaning staff didn’t want to climb up the hill to see if we had the “do not disturb” light on. Heck, I didn’t even want to climb the hill so I can’t blame them. They DO have transportation (golf cart and a van) and are prompt when you call them. You will need a ride if you want to go to the gym, spa or pickleball courts. Everything about the resort was average to me. The people there were genuinely nice and wanted you to have a good time. My favorite was a bartender named Donald who served the swim-up bar. He was creative and fun and ensured everyone enjoyed themselves. The resort was tired, but I’m sure Hyatt will make a few upgrades to improve.

Tropical Paradise
It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived (after travelling for nearly 24hrs from the UK) we were made to feel like family. We had booked Preferred Club as we were there to celebrate our upcoming 45th anniversary so thought we would splash out. The room was very nice with added extra touches and we had access to the preferred club bar where Ronnie made us fantastic cocktails with added flair. We had a problem with the sink leaking in our bathroom and it took three visits from maintenance to fix it!! A check in from management would have been good after it had been fixed but we heard nothing otherwise the staff were very friendly and would go the extra mile to ensure you had a good experience. Jose at the pool got to know what our favourite drinks were and brought them to us without us having to ask. There was entertainment at the pool everyday and the entertainment staff worked hard to keep the guests entertained. We ate at the Buffet for breakfast and the staff there were very helpful and friendly, Nelson was the egg station guy and his omelettes and eggs were amazing, we could of ate at the Seaside Grill but it didn’t open until 8:30am which, as we seemed to be on UK time, we were up and laid by the pool by then but we did have lunch there, where we were served by Anthony who then would greet us every time her saw us, and also evening dinner and both were lovely. We did eat evening meals at all the restaurants and we weren’t disappointed with any of them. We went on three excursions arranged by the guys in the Amstar office - Coco Beach was a disappointment but the Rio Celeste and River Boat trips were amazing. Yes it is a hilly resort but this meant fabulous views across the bay and the shuttles made it easy to get around the resort. We saw a few iguanas and exotic birds around the resort - one of the iguanas even stole our bag of pineapple while we were in the pool 😂. Overall this holiday was all we hoped for and we fell in love with Costa Rica. Pura Vida
