    Small, but Great!

Resort is smaller for an all inclusive, however service was first class, room and pool were great! Staff went above and beyond all the time. Entertainment was good nightly. Resort was extremely clean, masks are worn by employees and hand sanitizer was everywhere. So many friendly employees- Yari, Jesus, Que...the list goes on. A must is the Habatachi table with Fernando.

Yes, yes, yes and so very, very relaxing!

My wife and I have stayed at over 20 AI hotels mostly in Cancun/Maya Riviera but also in other areas. This was our 4th time at a Secrets Hotel and this chain has always provided extremely comfortable rooms, excellent service and great food (for AI anyway). Our experience at Capri Riviera was no different. This was also our 3rd visit to an AI since the beginning of the pandemic and far and away the best experience of the three. This is a relatively small hotel (relative to some of the other chains that have massive properties) but we found the ambiance here to be one of the most relaxing of any AI we have ever been to. Some of the nicer AIs can at times be a bit pretentious but the service and overall mood here was down-to-earth but at the same time also very high end. Whoever does the hiring/employee training has done an excellent job because the professionalism and friendliness across the board was amazing. My wife and I both speak Spanish fluently (even though I'm a gringo) and at times we get lesser treatment relative to some of the other American guests because of this. But here that was not the case at all. We had zero interactions where the employee was unfriendly or cold which again speaks volumes about how this place is run. Alberto the beach was always had a bounce in his step and such a positive attitude (despite the heat) providing drinks and even food. Food at AIs can often be not that great compared to eating at independent restaurants but we found the food here to be of relatively high quality. And while the hotel isn't fully back to normal operations as far as food and restaurant choices they always had a few restaurants open at night to choose from and we always enjoyed lunch at the beach restaurant. Again, I can't compliment this hotel enough on just how relaxing it was. If I could add one area of improvement it would be that they "durar" the tortillas with which they serve the tacos. Other positives: the bed was amazingly comfortable, we loved the piano music in the lobby bar in the evenings, we liked the fact they have indoor DJ/dancing every night (although we have preferred to have a little longer to get our dance on), the beach is actually very nice for both swimming and snorkeling, I love when AIs have coffee shops and this one definitely did not disappoint. Overall if you're looking for a relaxing AI experience this should be on your bucket list. Congrats to the GM/management here as they are doing so may things right and you just don't see that everyday even at some of the higher end AIs.

    Amazing Staff Carries This Resort!

We traveled to this all-inclusive and adult-only resort together with 4 friends and members of our Two Travel and Tour (our YouTube channel) Community. The property is beautiful and the rooms very spacious, but what really carries this resort is the staff! We did experience several issues at first, but then the staff jumped into action in a way we have never seen anywhere else before, thus giving us an absolutely fantastic stay after all. Here is our story... Our first room had a defective stopper in the tub, thus causing it not to hold water. The air-conditioning in it didn't work properly (this was the biggest issue given the hot temperatures in Mexico) and the temperature of the water in the shower fluctuated heavily while you showered, regardless of your settings. Not all restaurants at the resort were open every day and the menus at each restaurant never changed. Given the circumstances today's world is in due to the pandemic, no biggie - we understand. We also had a reservation for Portofino (Italian restaurant) canceled by the resort due to suddenly required maintenance. Again, we understand - these things happen. However, despite a consistently beautiful presentation, the food was so-so at first, and at times even flat-out bad (e.g. you're not supposed to be able to pick up Bearnaise sauce with your fork). As mentioned before, the property is gorgeous, but we spotted leaks in the ceilings in more than one spot. On a much more positive note, we can do nothing but praise the cleanliness and measures taken against Covid-19: our suitcases were sanitized upon arrival, sanitizer dispensers were placed in numerous spots, doormats with sanitizer(!) were placed in front of all public entrances, staff was wearing masks everywhere (both inside and outside the buildings) and at all times, and in our room even the remote control of the television and the light switches had been sanitized. Kimberly ended up talking to multiple members of staff and management, including the Food and Beverage Manager. This would turn-out to be the start of a series of improvements the likes of which we have never experienced anywhere else before (and we have been to a nice amount of places!): -We were given a new room with a balcony that had a fantastic pool/ocean view; -One day, we noticed someone working on the air-conditioning in our old room; -Leaks in the ceilings we had brought to the staff's attention were being attended to; -We received phone calls to our room from staff members checking in on us to make sure everything was ok; -One night, rose petals had been placed on our bed in the form of a heart with two exclamation marks on each side of it; -We were given a poolside dinner with entertainment and free sparkling wine, whereby the Food and Beverage Manager herself kept a close eye to ensure everything was running smoothly; -This was followed by a private, multi-course, chef's choice dinner at Portofino the next day, whereby the chef himself came out to present us some of the (fantastically presented, immaculately prepared, and absolutely delicious) meals he had prepared for us! -Also, I had inquired about the possibility to do a live stream for our following during this dinner. We were expecting just to bring our laptop, maybe borrow an extension cord, and simply do our live stream. To our astonishment, the whole room had been set up as a studio to do a live stream from (replay of the full dinner is available on our YouTube channel), including lights in the colors of the Mexican flag that were borrowed from the entertainment team and placed behind our seats to make for an excellent background! -Manuel, a member of Management and the man behind this fantastic surprise, even showed up in our live stream at some point to ask if we were ready for some Tequila; -And as if that were not more than enough, that dinner was followed by yet another private, multi-course, chef's choice dinner at the Portofino the day after that, this time in the wine room, and again with the chefs themselves coming out to present some of the meals they had prepared for us! Remarkable was the fact that our new friend James Brown, the Head Waiter, had personally requested to be our waiter for this dinner. He takes great pride in his job and he should - this man knows what he is doing and did a truly excellent job waiting on us! -It must be noted that not only James, but also many other waiters were highly involved with all of the special dinners we were treated to. We were thrilled with the service provided by each and every one of them! We have tried our best to make a conscious effort to keep track of every single staff member that was involved with us and did an excellent job. We want to recognize the following staff members and thank them for everything they have done for us: Alberto (restaurants) Anahi (spa - excellent massage!) Antonio (restaurants) Chef Adrian (restaurants) Chef Lorenzo (restaurants) Dimas (restaurants) Food and Beverage Manager (so sorry we didn't get her name, but we do want to recognize her!) Fredy (restaurants - your omelettes at breakfast were delicious!) Housekeeping (unfortunately, we never got to talk to you in person, but our room was always spotless after you had cleaned it up!) Hugo (restaurants) Jesus (restaurants) James 'Jaime' Brown (restaurants / Head Waiter - such a pleasure to meet you. You're an amazing person and your daughters can be proud of you!) Luciano (bartender?) Manuel (Management / Maitre Sommelier - thank you so much for the huge surprise!) Maritza (Reception) Musmé (Chief Concierge) Noe (restaurants) Pascual (bartender) Perla (restaurants) Samuel (restaurants) Wendy (spa - outstanding massage!) We do sincerely apologize to anyone we forgot to mention. Me and Kimberly don't care about mistakes happening - making mistakes makes us human. What matters, is how you deal with them and what you do to make things right. And here, at the Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun in Mexico, the staff didn't just make things right. They excelled at it in a way that exceeded our expectations by a landslide and made us forget about any of the initial problems we experienced. For that reason, we feel that giving this resort the full 5 stars is nothing but well-deserved!

    Worst chain and hotel ever.

Not good at all. The Secrets chain of hotels has lost certainly not impressed me at all. Our original trip was booked with Secrets Montego Bay, Jamaica. When Jamaica changed their COVID regulations, we were not able to make it into the country. Priceline contacted Secrets Montego about granted a refund and Secrets refused and didn't return phone calls. This is a slimy move during a pandemic. We rerouted our trip to Mexico and tried AGAIN with Secrets Capri Riviera. We arrived and the building and property are in dire need of a renovation. We had a terrible view of a flooded roof top and asked to upgrade. We upgraded to an ocean from room that was disgusting. We were charged almost double per night for the room and used our coupons from the timeshare presentation to pay for part of it. You can see from our photos how gross the room was. The bathtub water was brown, our water was shut off while I was mid shower for 3 hours, our toilet flooded the whole room in the middle of the night, the lamp shade was burnt and dirty, hair all over the bedding, a broken sliding door lock, and room keys that worked only half of the time. They discounted the room $100 or so when the total was $1300. This is unacceptable. The Secrets chain refused our Jamaica refund due to COVID-19 and Secrets Capri Riviera was filthy. We spent 2X the normal amount and were treated like we were lucky to be there. Take your money to a different all inclusive resort. Secrets should be treating their guests like royalty right now, not peasants

    What an amazing trip!

We just got back from Secrets Capri. This is our 3rd time there. The entertainment team never disappoints, Hector and Yoshi are amazing and always a good time. Juan at the pool bar is amazing as well. The food was outstanding, especially the Hibachi and Sushi. The hotel was so clean and we felt so safe. Can't wait to come back.
