Just ok, not a place we would return to.
Secrets is a new resort, opening in June 2025, which is the main reason we wanted to go. Mistake! I guess any new resort will need time to work out the kinks. The resort is so new that local drivers have trouble locating it. They really need signs since it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Keep this in mind if you plan to rent a car. This was our first visit to Aruba so we were not aware that there are absolutely no traffic signals in all of Aruba and no lights, which means visitors should not be out after dark. There are no street names as well. Back to the resort itself. The specialty restaurants are not fully operational, so getting in was time-consuming due to long waits. The nighttime entertainment was okay, with daytime entertainment consisting of a group of four teens performing dance moves. The pools were quiet and mostly boring. The DJ would play a song or two, then walk away for an hour or so. The pool attendants were not attentive to the guests, causing us to walk to the bar or yell across the pool to get their attention to get drinks. Keep in mind that the resort is so new that there were hardly any people there. It was very disappointing that there is no way to get food while at the pool. I've never been to a resort where you couldn't get food while lounging by the pool. A beach is located across the street from the resort. Secrets has a van set up where you will be provided a chair, towels and drinks when you visit the beach, but keep in mind that this is a public beach and during the summer, there is absolutely nothing to do in Aruba but go to the beach, so it was crowded with locals and their families. Upon our arrival, we were told to give the key to our rental car to the attendant. There was obviously no policy or procedure in place for receiving cars, since the person didn't even ask our name while taking our key and driving away with our rental vehicle. I was curious about how they would match us with our vehicle when we returned. Two days later when we came to get the car to go sightseeing, the attendant opened a drawer and said, "which key is yours". This was very odd to me since most guests would have rentals. I of course, said I had no clue which key was mine since I had not memorized the license plate number or anything else having to do with the rental. This was disturbing that I could technically choose any key to any vehicle to take for the day. Another issue was the number of staff walking around the resort doing nothing. The resort appeared to be over staffed but the front desk always had a line, the specialty restaurants had long waits and were always running at half capacity, young staff walking around the pool area vaping or on their telephone unconcerned with the guests in attendance. The rooms were nice, though our extra lock was unfunctional, odd, especially in a resort that is less than a month old. Room service was decent. I would never return to Secrets, not solely based on my experience at the resort, but the island of Aruba, altogether. It is a small island with nothing to do. I would rate the resort 3/5.

Anniversary trip to Aruba
We stayed 10 nights at Preferred Ocean View King Room 2nd floor, location was great with nice view, we had a roof above the balcony that was very helpful because of the rain on and off during our stay. Since the room was facing the pool area it wasn’t as windy as on the ocean front. The resort was open June 5th we arrived on June 23rd. We didn’t set our expectations high, but even though there were some hiccups in service, overall we had an amazing relaxing vacation. Food: Buffet was very good. There are so many food options at the Market Cafe for breakfast and lunch that we didn’t even try preferred restaurant. Sophia was our go-to-person at the buffet, she did brighten up every morning with a big smile and positive attitude, she remembered what we like to drink in the morning and afternoon. Resort have only 4 restaurants open for dinner: Oceana, Italian Portofino, Himitsu Asian and Tierra South American. We had the chance to eat at all four restaurants during our 10 nights stay, our favorites were Oceana and Tierra. We were lucky to have Kemar (Tierra/Himitsu) and Mandy (Oceana/Portofino) as our servers, they were incredibly attentive and made us feel welcome every night we saw them, service was outstanding. The special place in our hearts belongs to Juleane Preferred Club / Lobby Bar Bartender. She made our first time in Aruba unforgettable, from the warm welcome with a great smile every time we saw her to the amazing drinks she made. We had a blast, service was great and thanks for making our specialty drinks, sour for me and sweet for my husband. She is customer-oriented with experience taking orders and interacting with customers in a high-volume and unpredictable bar environment. One more person I would like to thank is Kevin the butler, who took care of our off-site restaurant reservation for our anniversary dinner. Thank you very much, we had an incredible experience at Fly fish bone.
