    Updates needed to this property

Vey rarely write reviews but this property is in serious need of updates. The Dreams has been renovated and is much nicer. Location is its saving grace.

    DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT!

Terrible experience for our family of 9! 1st -We were offered free transportation OR Spa experience when reservations were made, but when we got to airport they AMSTAR said we were not on the list. We had to pay $140 out of pocket to get us to the resort. 2nd -We called the resort TWO MONTHS in advance and ask them to please make our rooms close to each other, but they ended up putting 3 rooms at the back of the resort and 2 in the front. Apparently, they made all the rooms facing the ocean all OCEAN FRONT and the rooms in the back are now POOL VIEW. On our previous 2 trips to this resort, it was NOT that way. 3rd -The two OCEAN FRONT rooms smelled of mildew and sewage and our sons A/C barely worked in his room. 4th-Another thing they changed was the dining options. Unless you PAID for PREFERRED you can't eat at Oceana Restaurant from breakfast OR lunch, you can't go into the small bar/restaurant across from Boudreux , and the Room Service menu doesn't offer the same food. 5th -How was the food ? Well...there are only 2 places it is edible (Market Cafe for BREAKFAST and Boudreux for DINNER). The Asian food has a few good items (Sweet & Sour Chicken and Teriyaki Beef and Chicken) but the rest of it is a little off putting. We already knew the beach access to the water was rocky last time, and it still is. So you definitely need shoes to get in from the beach OR get in the water from the pier. FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN -Since the resort/AmStar didn't honor the transportation offered, we went to book transport back to airport for 9 people and they said it would cost $200!!!! It only cost $140 to get there but $200 to get back....SERIOUSLY? She said I could go ask the Bell Hop if he can help us and help us he DID! I told him how we were treated by AmStar and he said he could get us a van for $12 per person! We couldn't believe how bad this resort treated us! They obviously could care less about getting repeat business it seems. They made NO EFFORT at all to accommodate us or make amends. DO NOT BOOK HERE! I can't offer a better suggestion for you to consider, but please don't give Secrets Aura your money!

    Secrets Aura Cozumel Pro Review

Positives: Great Service, Nice Facility, Good Layout, Great Ocean View, Quiet Part of the Island, Great Weather and Beautiful Ocean Water. Negatives: Dinning Options, Menu Options, Dangerous Water Access from Beach, Workers asking for Tips Constantly, Designated Smoking Area in Very Bad Location, Pricing for Spa, Excursions and Shuttles is more than we pay in USA, Poor Sanitizing of food and drink areas. many people came down with Montezuma's Revenge while drinking only bottled water.

    What a dump.

Do you like outdated grounds? Rooms that aren't updated? A TV that doesn't have the capability to log into Netflix? (I mean come on, even the Fairfield Marriott has TV's with streaming access!!!) If this sounds acceptable, this is the resort for you. We had a 3 day stay booked and left after the first night. We high-tailed it out of there to Cancun via ferry to stay at the St. Regis. Oh!!! And we wrote an email to the concierge and were not even refunded! I would not be putting such public reviews if our concerns were validated and handled by customer service. AS GLOBALISTS and UNITED VACATION CLUB OWNERS! Hands down, one of the dumpiest resorts we have stayed at. Definitely NOT the top-tier vacation club we signed on for, with a sticker price of $90,000 to have the most exclusive access. VERY disappointed. Save yourself the hassle, and head down to the Secrets Guanacaste in Costa Rica -- MUCH better!

    Disappointed

Value of hotel dissapointing. Preferred club lounge not worth the upgrade. Lounge dirty. Tables never wiped and Cobb webs visible .
