Just- okay
We stayed at Secrets Aura for five days. While there were definitely some highlights, here’s an honest review along with a few tips and tricks to help make your stay more enjoyable: Preferred Club: I recommend booking Preferred, but just know the perks are limited. There’s no clear way to identify Preferred guests other than at the check-in/check-out lounge—and even then, many non-Preferred guests were still entering. The same thing happened at the Preferred pool; it was crowded with people who clearly weren’t staying Preferred. The only true perk was better-quality liquor. Rooms & Comfort: Rooms are freezing, so pack warm clothes to sleep in. Our mini fridge and safe were broken when we arrived, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room. Once we submitted a complaint, those issues were fixed quickly, so at least the response time was great. Food & Dining: The food was hit or miss. Bordeaux was by far the best restaurant on the property. The rest were just okay—not bad, but definitely not five-star quality. Warning – Timeshare Presentation: Do NOT attend the timeshare presentation. They make it sound tempting with “freebies,” but it’s a waste of time. We spent three hours, and others spent up to five. The “free” massage isn’t truly free, and you’ll regret giving up a big chunk of your vacation for it. Other Tips: • Bring bug spray—especially if you plan to hang out on the beach at night. The bugs are relentless. • Bring water shoes. The beach was too rough for us to enjoy safely. • Bring plenty of $1s and $5s—the staff appreciate American cash for tips. Overall: If you’re looking for a true 5-star resort in terms of rooms, amenities, and food, Secrets Aura isn’t it—it’s more of a 3.5 to 4-star experience. However, the staff are outstanding. They work incredibly hard and go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Paradise with a twist but only for 1 day
The quality of service is excellent. The beach area is beautiful. However, beware of the high pressure sales pitch as they say it would only take 90 minutes but it was a full 3 hours. We listened to 6 different people give us a sales pitch...ugh! At least it was only for 1 day then everything else was Great!

Great place to lay on the beach but not the 5 star experience you expect from a Secrets or Hyatt
Maybe 5 star when it opened but needs some serious work to bring it back to its previous glory. The beach and ocean and location are great but the resort needs some TLC. Everything looks "old". Walls both interior and exterior are cracked. Grime and grout to tiles and pools need replacing, the waterslides which were the primary reason we booked this place were so unkempt that they actually cut and scraped use going down them and when I complained I was told "they are more of an esthetics only thing now" which is absolute garbage of an answer and they even advertise them on their website. The food menus are all decent menus and variety but unfortunately the execution just isn't there. The food was average st best and usually hot or miss on whether it was good or not. Girlfriend and I are both "foodies" and we were very disappointed, especially since we were told it had the best food of the surrounding resorts. The stay was average but definitely did not live up to the Hyatt or Secrets Name and I can't say I'd recommend it based on our stay.

Secrets Aura Gives Secrets Resorts a Black Eye
This Secrets Resort was very disappointing. I've stayed in other Secrets and did not have such a bad experience. They are in great need of an upgrade for the resort and their food must be better. Not the type of anniversary trip I expected from Secrets.

Great staff, clean resort, good price. Food not very good.
We went for a couples get away with no kids. We had a good time. It was our first trip to a Secrets and first time in Cozumel. Good: Staff were all very nice and friendly. We had a preferred room swim up, which was a small pool connecting a few rooms with a water slide down to a main pool. It was kinda cool and fun. The resort seemed to be clean everywhere we went. We did 3 nights/4 days. The price was pretty good I thought (the stay cost less than the airfare). The location was good. The beach has rocks/coral right off the shore (the sand is a little rough but white well kept. You can snorkel right off the shore and see some coral and fish swim right up you. The drink were good. If you need ice or drinks the bars will fill up your own cups/water bottles (the use bottled water) or refill your ice bucket for your room. The bad/not so good: The resort is old. (someone told us it was a different resort maybe 20 years ago before it was Secrets). They seem to be remolding it still. They were working on it while we were there redoing the front steps, redoing walk ways ect. The food was not very good. At best I would say like an Applebee's at worst like cafeteria food. We did get some food outside the resort on excursions and in town that was great so I think its specific to the resort. We ate once at Dreams next door and it wasn't any better. Some stuff seem to close at random times. The bar near on of the pools/beach by one of the restaurants closed at 4pm, the French restaurant was closed all day our first day and we didn't see it open for breakfast any day we were there. The swim up bars close at 6 which seemed early because a lot of people were still in the pools and it is all adults. We have been to a Sandals once before but it was several years ago, which is all I really have to compare it too. Sandals was a lot more expensive but the room was great and the resort was a lot more updated. Overall we had a good time, the staff was great and the price was great. I would recommend, but manage expectations for the food and the age of the resort.
