Not the quality I'd expect from a Secrets resort!
The rooms are dated, the restaurants not great. Friendly wait staff and the beach is great. The preferred rooms are not worth the extra money.

Worst experience I’ve ever had
Absolutely terrible. Do NOT book! This is NOT a 5-star resort. If you’re looking for a 3-star or less experience, then proceed with caution. The rooms were dirty, the AC doesn’t work in some rooms (we had to change rooms, and had booked a premium room), the food was not great, and the service was inconsistent and at times staff were rude. I did not feel like I was on vacation and very much looked forward to returning home despite loving Cozumel!

Exceptionally good wait staff and beautiful hotel setting
Awesome food, the staff are amazing, they made sure my meals were to my expectations. I never once had a bad meal or bad experience with the waiter or host. This is the same with lounging on the beach or poolside. Not only was the food good there was a lot of variety. The same goes with the drinks and cocktail selections. The beach and sunsets are one of a kind

Will not be going back…
Took a girls trip over the 4th. We booked two rooms, ocean view, but only got one ocean view room, and the other was clear on the other side of the resort. Resort said to “upgrade” it would be $80 per night. Then said if we’d sit through a 90 minute presentation, we would get another ocean view. We’d been traveling since 3am, we were exhausted but agreed to do it at 9 the next day. On a side note, our friend had paid considerably more for her room than ours. The next day we showed up for the presentation at nine. We had a tour planned after with pick up at the resort at 11. They said it wouldn’t be enough time, and insisted on rescheduling us to the next day. We were hounded every time we walked through the lobby, and told there would be a 250 room charge attached to her room if we didn’t do it. The second day our friend had a tragic family emergency and had to leave…when she went to check out, they told her she owed the 250. They would not let her in a cab or out of the gates unless she paid. She eventually agreed to pay half and they let her go. They would not credit her for the other nights rooms. The rest of the stay was not much better. The food was awful. And often hard to get, as most of the restaurants aren’t open on a daily basis and when one is it’s crowded and a long wait. There is no night life, getting a drink after 9 was impossible. There were some “afternoon” shows but everything shuts down early. They did do a nice 4th of July show. Room service breakfast took over an hour. We found live and dead cockroaches in our room and other bathrooms. We were turned away at several places because we weren’t VIP, and told some drinks were only for VIP. Asked regularly, “are you VIP?” Then treated completely different! Overall terrible place to stay! Apparently even for VIPs. Many of them were complaining about the food and nothing open. Best part of the resort was the swim up pool bar, which had nachos and soy burgers, but closed at 6. And very sweet staff at the market place (buffet). There is a cool swing bar by the ocean but it was never open. Town is a ways away. Not walking distance. $20 per trip.

Secrets Expectations with a No-tell Motel Delivery
Avoid this hotel if you are looking for a real secrets experience. If you are here for scuba due to the location its manageable to stay, the "preferred" experience is not worth it and the staff has the worst attitude I have seen in years, this coming from someone who travels over 100 days a year. This property need a extreme overhaul in all categories: service, food, amenities, rooms, all closer to a Motel 6 experience at the rate of a Diamond All Inclusive (Which clearly its NOT) - AVOID AT ALL COST if you are seeking a premium all inclusive experience. UNLESS YOU ARE TRAVELING SPECIFICALLY FOR SCUBA DIVING IN COZUMEL
