    Marriott in Name Only

Was booked into a villa unit. When I first entered, the A/C was blasting cool in the living area (great!). When I got ready for bed later, I realized that the A/C wasn't even blowing in the bedroom/bathroom area, making it very stuffy and warm. I contacted the front desk, and they said someone would come to look at it; however, no one ever came by. I ended up sleeping on the couch with the A/C blasting on me, so it wasn't too bad. The shower never had ANY hot water - it was frigid. Maybe they were trying to balance the hot bedroom/bathroom with the icy plunge? Went to the front desk and told the clerk about the issues, and they apologized and said someone would come to check it that day. When I got back to my room at 8:00 pm, still no A/C in the bedroom and only cold water available in the bathroom. Needless to day, I spent yet another night on the couch. Surprised this is still claimed by Marriott. The personnel were all quite nice, but the hotel itself seems to lack regular maintenance. From what I heard, the hotel side had fire alarms going off at night as well, so at least I was spared that experience.

    Huge Disappointment

I traveled for business nearly full time for 30 years (basically lived in hotels). I don’t remember a worse hotel experience. The first room was disgustingly dirty - stains on the floors and sheets, AC didn’t work, no hot water, second shower head was lying on the floor of the tub, etc., etc., etc. This room never should have been rented. Staff moved me to a different room the next day which was better in that it was pretty clean. AC didn’t work properly; the discharge valve was just outside the door so the mat was soaking wet all the time allowing dirty foot prints every time anyone walked into the room. A $675 charge appeared on my credit card “accidentally” according to the hotel manager. After a few requests, she agreed to remove the pending charge as opposed to me waiting to see if it would become permanent. The hotel appears to be understaffed although the staff was pleasant and did their best to keep up. The grounds of the hotel are pretty. If you are traveling with a dog, this hotel is not “pet friendly.” They have rooms that allow dogs, but you cannot have your dog in any of the outside eating or lounge areas. Lastly, a guest cannot leave a review on Marriott’s website unless the guest is provided with a “satisfaction survey” by the hotel staff. Shockingly, that was not given to anyone I know who stayed there. Overall, this place needs to get it together.

Most Likely the Worse Marriott I've stayed in!

This Marriott is most likely the worse review I have completed, especially on a Marriott property, no less one attached to the PGA event. I expected so much more from this property, and it was such a disappointment. From the moment I arrived to find the main lobby, elevators and rooms hot beyond belief, to the "numerous" cockroaches observed in a restaurant/pub, what made this worse was the staff's inability to give you comfort that the problems were being corrected. Instead, they provided excuses yet acknowledging these problems have existed for some time. 2 calls, and 3 visits to the front desk about my AC not working properly did absolutely nothing. I place a small item near the AC control and it was clear no one even came to my room. Yet, front desk staff seemed frustrated and acknowledged it's been an issue for a while. Today, in the pub restaurant lower level, 3 cockroaches (1 on our table, 1 on a police chief, and another fly roach behind our table). We shared this disgusting issue while dining with our waiter, who said that "its because the slider door keeps opening and there are many roaches outside that come in all the time" WHAT?? I hope there isnt some pre-printed apology by the resort manager, because obviously they are aware and instead of apologizing simply correct the issues. In my hot room, the shower curtain was ripped in numerous spots, broken tub soap dish and nicked furniture all signs that this resort has not been kept up. Elevators look like they have not been refreshed, painted or anything in years! As a meeting planner for many years, I'd be embarrassed to put a meeting at this resort!

Not luxurious, average but still worth it

This hotel has so much potential. Incredible entertainment area, swimming pool, surrounded by trees but it’s to ran down! The air conditioning literally took all night to cool the room. I saw the reviews of the restaurants and all of them were poor, so decided to eat at Medure, close to the hotel. It can get noisy as well. I would recommend if you are not looking for a luxury or above average experience. I would go back with my kids to enjoy the pool and the private club next to the beach.

Great massage but run down spa

Booked a $230 one hr. deep tissue massage with Mary at the spa. She was amazing! Truly one of the best massage therapists I’ve encountered. The spa itself was a bit run down and did not meet my expectations as far as sauna, steam room, locker room and general area. They had a sad little counter with water, one kind of tea and a few snacks. The pool was nice and we enjoyed the yogurt parfaits at the pool cafe. For the price I wouldn’t go back until they update/renovate the spa but the staff were great. It was also strangely cold throughout the spa. They had space heaters in a few places. Maybe there’s an issue with the air conditioning but we were both shivering while waiting for our massages in the relaxation room.
