Wonderful location, horrible service
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this hotel. From the start, the staff misled me by initially stating that I would only be charged a courtesy hold, but later ended up charging me for an entire night's stay. When I questioned this unexpected charge, they provided false information once again, claiming it was due to my affiliation with a wedding party, which was completely untrue. To make matters worse, the hotel charged me without my knowledge and then justified it as a precaution against potential fraud. When I brought my concerns to the manager, their response lacked empathy and it felt as though they were rushing to dismiss my grievances. As someone who has had positive experiences with Marriott in the past, I cannot in good conscience recommend this particular hotel. The level of service and treatment I received simply did not match the established Marriot brand, and it has left a lasting negative impression. Moreover, I must mention that there was a discriminatory undertone at this hotel, and the front desk staff made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. It was disheartening to witness the stark difference in treatment between myself and other Caucasian guests. The security, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were impeccable, but the front desk staff clearly requires customer service training to ensure equal treatment and a welcoming experience for all guests.
Excellent hotel. Location is great, good free breakfast, breathtaking views of rainforest, very very friendly staff. I want to call Lisa and Decha for their excellent customer service. Food is good as well.
5 Star service nad nicely upgraded room
Beautiful hotel/resort that is right on the ocean and extremely convenient to the airport, restaurants, and convenience stores. Sightseeing in Old San Juan and Castillo San Felipe are must-do activities. I was very happy w/ the level of service at the Marriott, starting from the front desk at check in right through to housekeeping (Kris A left a nice note when she noticed cold medicine), meals, pool area, etc. 5-stars to the employees at this resort! Cabana Wing!! We chose to stay in the Cabana wing after reading reviews here about how these rooms have been upgraded and the definitely have! Similar to other Marriott properties the bathroom are also nicely upgraded w/ fantastic new showers. Glad we booked Cabana wing room - and we chose ocean front room that had a spectacular view of the ocean and overlooking the pool (choose a high floor if you like better views!!)
We have a waterslide, you just can't use it.
They advertise a waterslide, even have it listed daily on the activities sheet, while its not open because it was painted. Painting looks complete but scaffolding is still up and no workers have come to remove it for three days. Very disappointing for guests with small children.
Great staff. Terrible music.
Staff is amazing. Everything they do is great. But there are some things they cannot control. Music is terrible. Apparently Marriott wants you to listen to their sucky corporate music. Instead of good tunes. Free the Puerto Rico Marriott from this suckage and let them play their own music.
