    Think Twice

San Diego Mission Bay Resort is the first resort I have visited that does not offer or host activities. The title "resort" is deceiving with this facility. Resorts offer a wider range recreational activities and amenities; SDMBR does not; there was not a single activity offered. My children were absolutely bored. The "resort" is over-price and offers nothing and charges you for everything. There is no community microwave offered and they charge a $25 fee to use the microwave. The parking fee is $45 per night, however, the security gates are NEVER lowered risking the chances of theft. Why charge a parking fee if no security is provided. Also, there is a buildup of mold in the bathrooms and broken furniture in the rooms. While housekeeping comes daily to clean your room, they do not dust or vacuum. We had two rooms and both rooms were dusty including the bathroom and the shelves that house the towels and wash clothes had build-up dusty and dirt. Last, the maintenance staff is not reliable. placed a service call due to a broken glass side table that was discovered upon checkin into the room. Maintenance never arrived to remove the table. The rooms are old, outdated and have a moldy smell. I would think twice before booking.

Excellent Customer Service at San Diego Mission Bay Resort

We spent a fun and relaxing weekend at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort. SHOUT-OUT TO THE FOLLOWING EMPLOYEES: Micah (front desk): Micah was exceptionally courteous and accommodating and found us the perfect room despite limited availability Chris (parking valet): Chris artfully explained the ins and outs of getting around at and near the Resort Noah (Covewood Restaurant): Noah has impeccable customer service skills, even in high pressure situations; he quickly found the perfect table for us and carefully explained the specials Bryan and Eli (Security): The safe in our room suddenly stopped working and could not be opened. Bryan and Eli showed up after hours and fixed it in minutes

Friendly staff at very dated and rundown resort

Buildings, hallways, pools all dated and need refreshing. Our room had a nice view of the bay and appeared to have been updated more recently but overall the resort feels tired and outdated. Key card access required to enter the parking lot, access the pool and get towels at the pool is not my typical hotel experience at a 4 star which is why I’m saying three stars. That could be because of the nomad lifestyle in Mission Bay which takes some getting used to.

    Satisfied

It was a beautiful resort located in the central area of all the tourist attractions we went to (10 - 15 mins away) including La Jolla, Belmont Park/Mission Beach, Sunset Cliff, Balboa Park, Little Italy. The staff was nice and accommodating. The beds were comfortable. The pool area was nice. I loved the boardwalk that was just right behind the resort, which was an awesome vibe. It was quieter when we went, we got to go in the hot tubs without it being congested. My main complaint was that the first room we were in (one of the smaller buildings with two floors - no elevator which was inconvenient with hauling up luggage), the room smelled kind of musty and flared up some allergies for two people that were with me. They kindly apologized and had us check out of that room (we stayed in that room one night) while they prepared another room for us the same day. It wasn't available until 4-5pm but that was ok with us since we were out and about anyways. We were very pleased with the new room - it was a whole new vibe that changed the mood for us from the first room. Another thing that was a bummer was that the rooms did not have a microwave. They didn't have a community microwave either which was explained to us it was due to cross contamination - which I get. It was $20 for a microwave. We were not aware of the $40 amenities charge per day until a couple days before we were going to arrive. You also had to pay $45 per car, per day. I'm not sure if I just didn't look into this but just be aware of this. Despite the $45 charge, I still would have rented a car vs Ubering everywhere. Other than these minor things, the stay was great. Thank you, staff for understanding and making us have a great experience.

    Beautiful but a bit isolated

Wonderful resort! Staff was friendly, grounds were immaculate, comfortable beds and nice rooms (if staying again I would do a garden view room as opposed to water view room in the tower. My kids absolutely loved the pool! Took off one star as the location is a bit isolated, there are no walkable restaurants, and we spent a small fortune on Ubers (there are lots of places, a quick uber ride away, it just adds up). If you have small children, there are two awesome parks a short walk from the resort.
