Great Location (River Walk Run)
Check in was a breeze especially when you use the mobile check-in. The staff at the front desk was friendly and the staff in the market area made me feel like I was at home. They went out of the way to make my order for breakfast, due to me being a very picky eater. Thank you very much for that!! This was a pretty nice hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and spacious; however the best part of this hotel has to be the location. You walk right out the back door to the River Walk. I took my morning run along the River Walk which was great. I would recommend this hotel and would place it in the top 10 Marriott properties I have visited
We went to San Antonio for a weekend get away with friends. We made reservations at Marriott RiverWalk, which is closed, but we weren't told that, they just adjusted our reservation to the Marriott RiverCenter, without telling us, no email, no phone call, we just show up to the hotel and it's closed, but with a sign saying to check in at the RiverCenter, which is across the street. What we were told regarding all this nonsense is too ridiculous to relate, so I won't. We were not given our regular upgraded room for being platinum elite whatever we are, just a regular room that was exceptionally small. Concierge lounge is closed, gym closed, 1 tiny restaurant is open (and chef is awesome! Really great guy and great food!), the ice machine on our floor was broken, our phone would not call down to the front desk. Not sure why, but our room wasn't even cleaned, we had to go to the front desk for clean towels, because the phone did work! Our friends are smokers and said the smoking area was covered in garbage, which was there for the 3 days we were there, and never cleaned up. Oh, requested a coffee maker, which I had to go downstairs to ask for on, because the phone was broken...then the coffee maker they delivered was broken...I kid you not! The pool was so filthy someone had carved into the brown muck on the pool tile "this pool needs to be cleaner"....again I kid you not, you cannot make this stuff up! Aside from a very sweet bartender and chef this was so disappointing I cannot recommend staying here! I understand that there is an issue due to the virus and the riots caused new issues, but that shouldn't eliminate the ability to clean the pool.
Hotel Staff is equivalent to Motel 6
This is a beautiful hotel with a newly renovated lobby and rooms however the customer service and hotel staff is comparable to a Motel 6. I checked in at 10PM and was placed on the 23rd floor. The next morning I woke up to a hot and dark room and the electricity had gone out. I called the front desk multiple times and no answer. I stepped into the hallway where there was still electricity. Once I finally got Jessica from the front desk on the phone, she basically told me to come downstairs and get a new key as I need to change rooms. Such an inconvenience after I wiped down my original room with Lysol and Clorox wipes with this horrible COVID-19 pandemic. I now have to risk being moved to another room that could possibly be infected and wipe it down, not to mention lose rest that is needed as I'm an essential employee. Jessica has no empathy and expressed no care. I will be reporting this property to my company and request for the contract to be terminated immediately as I don't feel safe here.
I am very glad I chose this hotel for several reasons: 1. Beautiful newer lobby that has a lobby bar and market shop. Floors are not carpeted. Sleek and clean feel and look. 2. Remodeled room we had on 26th floor clean and fresh. Wood floor a plus! Modern look. 3. M Club concierge lounge remodeled. Nice, clean, sleek and modern. Accessible 24 hours for Platinum elite members. Free breakfast, mid day snacks and evening meal. 4. Attached to a mall that had Macy’s and many other stores. Love this opportunity to shop without going outside! 5. Just a short walk to the famous riverwalk that has restaurants that ensure any cuisine you want you will find. 6. Opportunity to catch the riverwalk boat tour accessible outside hotel. My only complaint is the internet. Every time device goes to sleep you have to sign in again. If I come to San Antonio again I will definitely stay here.
Thank you to Jeff Harris in Loss Prevention. I had forgotten my laptop charger and had plenty of work to complete. Jeff went above and beyond locating a charger for me. He made a couple trips to my room looking for the correct one and never once acted annoyed. I was more than overjoyed and relieved that I could continue grading. Thanks so much Jeff!
