Water park – As previously shared, our Water Park continues to operate seamlessly, boasting an array of 13 monster slides, four splash pad slides, two lazy rivers, and a range of pool amenities. The response from our guests has been overwhelmingly positive. Due to external factors, particularly unusual weather conditions in the region, the completion of the final monster water slide has experienced a necessary extension. To address this, we have proactively rescheduled its availability for our mutual clients to October 15th.

Nothing royal about this Royalton
The Good: Resort was clean, rooms were clean. Water park is decent, but main slide was closed all week. The Bad: Kids arcade did not accept USD or a card at the ATM - only way to get pesos was by going up to guest services to play the machines. The laser tag was down the entire time we were there. Diamond club food selection was worse than the main food buffet. Room service is very slow. Ordered the same sandwich 3 nights and it came a different way each night with at least an hour and half wait. Buffet would run out of food and lines were very long - waited 20+ minutes just to get pancakes for kids - bacon was not cooked one day. Outdoor nibbles quick serve for lunch ran out of food. The lines for the outdoor food truck were SO long all day and the pizza place was not open for lunch one of the days. It was hard to get food for lunch unless you went to the buffet but it was the same options everyday. Light beer only available at diamond club bars and only Coors light. Staff was okay at times but cafe staff was rude the first day we arrived - service was slow most of the time. We won’t be coming back.

Diamon club- royalton splash
Great experience, would rate it 7/10. Upgraded to diamond club and had Shadai take care of us. Book dinners quickly at great times for us.

Very good hotel for families, with potential to be better
About us: Family of 4 (Mom, Dad, two boys ages 7 and 3) The hotel: Relatively new. The rooms are modern and spacious. We had an ocean view with jacuzzi in the balcony. It was in the main building (14) and provided short walks to most restaurants and the buffet, lobby, main pools and bars. The A/C works, but if you like your room to be very cold, it doesn’t get there. We had our thermostat set at 18°C (64°F) but it never felt like it… if anything, it was more like 72-74°F. Food: The “coffee shop” is excellent. It has light snacks and a variety of coffee drinks. I like espresso and it did not disappointed. It is all included with you stay. Marché (Buffet): Gaspar was our server in the buffet and he was great. Cut the servers some slack, as they are handling many tables at the same time. Nevertheless, Gaspar was very attentive and kept our drinks (water, juice, margaritas, coffee… always full). Specialty restaurants: You do need reservations for these. Use the app or go to the office to make reservations. You can do reservations for “today and tomorrow” only. I know most people dislike it, but I think it’s fair, as it allows all to have equal chances to get a reservation. We were standard guest, so we have to make the reservations like I mentioned before. I do know that the diamond guests (higher tear) get other perks… including the reservations to the speciality restaurants. Check the details on that… I highly recommend Hunter’s Steakhouse. It is a most. Of all the restaurants we went to, Hunter’s was the best. Our server, Javier, excelled with his service. Ask for him if you go there. You won’t be disappointed. Rio, Zen Teppanyaki and Grazie Italian were all very good, both service and the quality of the food. We had a poor experience at Agave, the Mexican restaurant. The service and quality of the food was simply not good. They needed more staff/servers. The food came in somewhat cold and the wait… Even for things like water, and chips and salsa… the hostess was not very nice either. Pools: Pool bar: Gregorio and Mariano are the servers you need… Make sure you asked for them in the pool bar. They were excellent, very nice people and kept our drinks always ready and fresh. The water park is fun. It is open from 9-5p daily. Only one ride was down the entire time we were there (7 days) for major maintenance. We only had to wait for maybe two or three people ahead of us in most rides. Nothing terrible. Be mindful that for the rides, the minimum height is 1.2m (4 ft) tall. There is a smaller water park for kids, but to go downs the slides they need to be 5 years old. The lazy river is fun. There are plenty of pools for the enjoyment of all. The beach… If you are looking for white sand and turquoise water, this is not the beach for you. The water is “brownish”. I think this is why there are many pools in this hotel. For me, that wasn’t a big deal, as I prefer the pool.
