Mostly a nice Hotel, great view from our room...just one issue.
Mostly a nice hotel. Beautiful view from our room. Restaurant was nice, but wish it stayed open later than 830pm as most of our day trips didn't get back until around that time. Our only issue, and it was also the issue of several other people at the hotel that week, we found a roach in our room. It was crawling on the bathroom sink, we alerted the Front Desk, they said that they were aware of that happening and that it was due to construction and that they would let the Manager know and they would make a note on our account to get back with us. They never did. The Front Desk staff asked if we wanted someone to come in and spray the room, but we said No, not while we are staying in it, but they can when we leave in a couple of days.

Aloha is alive and well at the Royal Kona Resort
Could not have been more relaxing. Staff was awesome. From George, Lacey and Kahili behind the bar. To the housekeeping staff and Jhon the pool attendant. We walked all over Kailua, everything was 10 minutes away. Even the Lu'au was quiet impressive, which can be a let down at most hotels. Come and do everything or just do nothing at all. It's the Kine.

Loved our hotel and location
We were upgraded to an ocean view room and loved it!!! The check-in, lobby and restaurant staff service was excellent. The room attendants were phenomenal. Every day after a long day out, we came back to a neat and clean room. Everyone was so nice! The hotel was centrally located so we were able to walk most of the time. The only issue was the noise from the construction taking place on our building. It's understandable and it didn't really affect us much. We would stay there again under the same circumstances and we would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

Great place to stay
We got upgraded to a 6th (top) floor corner king room in the Lagoon Tower May24-30 We had booked the “renovation special” It was very large and very comfortable. Floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides. The view was amazing. Bed comfy. Large closet. Adequate drawer space. Nice TV. We made coffee every morning and sat on the balcony which was a huge wraparound deck. Bathroom-shower and towels and toiletries were nice. Close parking ($25 per day) Nice pool and loungers. Great bar/restaurant (although last call is very early at 8:30pm!) Awesome Mai Tais and Lava Flows. Did not utilize the fitness center or the spa nor the activities office. The lagoon next to the tower was a nice “little secret spot”. Would stay here again.

The gem of Kona
If you dare stay in Kailua Kona proper then stay here. Don’t go anywhere else. If I could review Kona itself I would. It’s pretty cheesy and reminds me honestly of Cancun. Lots of places to drink and eat but the shops are all the same. However the Royal Kona is a gem. Everything about the place I loved. The rooms were great, we were in a refurbished room and it was lovely. You have to understand that everything in Kona is going to be a little older and being exposed to constant sea spray stuff gets dirty and rusted. It’s part of being on the water in my opinion. But this hotel has the most amazing view. It’s very charming and has an old school feel but in the best way. The bar has very good and reasonably priced food. Try the pork tacos. Delicious.
