Condo Resort needs updating
Stayed at the Royal Kahana, a condo resort north of Kanapali, in Maui. The resort has a pool, fitness center, ping pong table, shuffleboard plus an activities person to answer questions. We stayed at an airbnb in the resort and while our condo was nice , I feel the resort in general is old and can use some updating. It seemed popular and had many people going and coming, but there are areas needing improvement. Many room doors are old , some of the stucco has chipped. Looks like Outrigger is now involved with resort , so hope that helps with updating. Small beach was nice where sea turtles swam right by us. Pool was very warm - it was heated to our surprise. Cute little fruit stand next to pool was good. Could buy pineapple stuffed with fruit and a few fruit drinks ( non-alcholic). If you want to say where there is more nightlife, Kannapali area with the beachwalk is a better choice. My one peeve was being charged 15.00 a day for parking. Our host warned us upfront, but I was still surprised by the charge.

Charge for extra towels!
Hotel will not supply extra towels, they charge you. We were there for 4 nights, without housekeeping or any requests. Our last day we asked for ONE beach towel and they said they only supply a full set of towels for a charge. Insane! I’ve never stayed at a hotel that charges for towels in my lifetime. They suggested we DO LAUNDRY! So ridiculous for such an overpriced ed hotel.

Perfect for a first experience on Maui
Excellent all around. Great location, great warm pool, safe parking area. This is how clean: I had a new pair of socks on today and were them both in the unit and on the balcony - they were still white on the bottom at the end of the day! Poolside clean, new grills, easy and very convenient access to beach. Have seen over 50 sea turtles from our 12th story view! Good access to pool chairs. Friendly staff with around the clock security guard. I don’t want to write too good of a review because I’d rather keep this gem to ourselves…but it deserves 5 stars all the way.

I strongly recommend this unit (#1012) at the Royal Kahana
We stayed in unit 1012 at the Royal Kahana. The unit was extremely CLEAN and everything had been updated. The view was spectacular. We saw Turtles right off our deck . Dollies a local Pub and Restaurant was walking distance right across the street. Had the BEST Pizza on the island. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. These units are individually owned but I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed in this unit (#1012).

Such a letdown
So i booked this through Costco and it was far from good. First off as we checked in, we're hit with a 372 dollar bill for " cleaning services ". Not once was there anyone cleaning our room, changing our towels or linens. Included in this fee was 60 dollars for parking. Yet the hotel says free parking. The pool was bathtub warm everyday of our stay. Next the tvs and cable worked like crap. Bedroom tv only carried 6 channels of local high school sports and 1 channel in Spanish. The living room tv worked for 30 seconds before the picture froze and the voice continued on. Would not recommend this hotel if my life depended on it
