Riu Hotels Suck Santa Fe Cabo is Terrible
This was our worst experience staying at a resort. Save your money and peace of mind and DO NOT stay at a Riu hotel. There was construction going on throughout our entire stay . Drilling started at 7am above our room and continued all day. They would not stop despite our complaints. The fire alarms went off at 5:00am three mornings in a row. My boyfriend was assaulted at their pool party as well. They also put us in a garden view room when we booked ocean view and would not refund the difference in price. I met a lady who was crying one night because her stay was so bad. They don’t care about their guests at all. This was the worst resort stay I’ve ever had and I’ve travelled for decades. Riu Hotels suck!!!

Fantastic Hotel, location
The hotel was great, staff was very attentive and always there. Location was perfect. The parties in the resort was very good, so overall great. The only downside was the food options were many but for a vegetarian was not great.

Freshly renovated, modern decor, with lots of fun and entertainment
After a fresh whole-resort renovation the property is greatly improved. Our group of friends has come to the Santa Fe annually since 2016, and with the new decor, new food offerings, and overall fresh look and feel of the resort we were very happy to be back. Similar to other Riu hotels we've been to there is a focus on fun and entertainment, with a dedicated party pool for several events per week (white party, neon party, jungle party). Admittedly going to three parties in a week becomes a bit repetitive (and hard on your liver), but being able to attend big events like that without having to leave the resort is nice. As with many resorts we've been to the a la carte restaurants varied in quality and occasionally we'd go to a buffet later in the evening - buffets were consistently good. The taco stands are a great way to have a snack that doesn't include hot dogs/hamburgers. It is important to note in seven years there has only been one opportunity (this year) to swim in the ocean. Frequently the waves are imposing and the undertow very dangerous - the view of the ocean from the infinity pools is lovely and walking on the beach is nice but there is generally no beach seating available. Cabo itself is a heavily Americanized town - the night life is a lot of fun as long as you don't stray far from the touristy areas. A suggestion....Nowhere Bar down on the marina is always a nice change from Squid Row. Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina didn't disappoint, with a superb cover band playing for more than three hours.

RIU Sante Fe better than expected
First of all I joined several facebook groups to read information and tips on this hotel. You will read some good and some bad but take that with a grain of salt. We booked a trip for my adult daughter’s birthday. The price was the initial selling point. Many non all inclusive resorts charge as much or considerably more in the Cabo San Lucas area. We booked through RIU and that included transportation to/from airport. Destination’s was the transportation we were assigned but we didn’t know the name until we asked some of the other tour groups outside airport. Do not stop inside airport everyone trying to sell you a timeshares. We taken on a bus that was exclusively for RIUs three resort’s. It was approximately 45 minute trip. We were greeted outside by Ramon the bellman who was extremely nice and pleasant. He remembered our names throughout our stay and this is a massive resort. He told us he had worked there for 14 years. Everyone around the resort for bartenders to servers were all very friendly. The buffets were all we experienced because we were only there three nights and had other excursions. We stayed in building 7 in room 7446 a sea view was how listed. We had a sound machine so never heard any noise and had a beautiful view. We would definitely return as this a very pleasant stay. If you party there is plenty of that and if you stay to yourself no one bothers you. It’s as fun or low key as you want it be.

10/10 Would go back again in a heartbeat!
The hard working staff works around the clock to cater to their guests!!! We had an absolute blast all day everyday. The amenities, food, and entertainment were stellar. We’re actually planning a larger family trip next year :)
