Not nice - won’t be coming back.

This was a horrible experience. In the Uk this was rated as a 5 star, and I wish I read the reviews because it was closer to a 2 star. It was filthy - we requested our bed changed and they turned it over the reason I know was because I had cut my ankle so there was some blood on the sheet and it was still there the day after. There was grime, and then on our last day. Not 1 but 2 roaches in our room! So we couldn’t sleep! We called security who did come and remove them, but the thought of it was disgusting. Food - the food was not too bad but incredibly repetitive so if you are there for longer than 5 days it becomes horrible and tasteless. They clearly have favouritism towards Spanish customers as we were ignored on several occasions. Barely smiled at. The entertainment was not too bad but again very repetitive. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I could write a lot more but I would be here all day.

My experience at Riu Republica in DR

My stay at Riu Republica was very good, mostly because of the Riu Parties and 2 amazing staff. The food was average, the drinks were too sweet taste like syrup, the room was awful need renovation, most of the servers at the bar isn't friendly. Rossy from Dining room service was impeccable, she does her job with passion. When I went in October Rossy served at breakfast area and lunch main buffet. The standard she offers compare to her teammates is a big difference, she needs to work for a Palace Riu and promoted to a Supervisor. Desty from front desk amazing, she made us very comfortable even though we had issues in the room, she really tried to fix it. Amazing worker... The parties were awesome, we experienced Pink, Jungle & White party. The only negative was the entertainers from Riu Republica asked us to pay 10usd to skip the bus line and go straight to the front. Afterwards we noticed alot of persons skipping line. I didn't like that it all inclusive why asking for money. Please fix this problem. The entertainers for the day program, majority of the time they don't do what is advertised on the app. Eg on crazy game time they were sitting around 4 of them on their phones doing nothing.

    really bad experience!

During our three-day stay at Hotel Riu, we were disappointed by several things. The bathroom in our room had a unpleasant smell and did not meet our expectations. The service staff was rude and unresponsive, unless you tip them up front, which added to our frustration. Additionally, the food offered was not good, lacking variety and flavor. When we went to get towels for at the pool they were short of towels throughout the day. Overall, our stay did not live up to the standards we had hoped for, and we left feeling disappointing. We won’t be coming back and we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

    DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Let me start off saying, I stayed at a RIU resort in Jamaica and my experience was totally different from the location in the DR. My friend and I are currently here and have been disappointed the entire trip. Our room has not had A/C the entire time we’ve been here. I’ve submitted 10 request over the past three days and the staff is just closing out the ticket without fixing the problem. We even went to the front desk and asked to be moved to another room and still wasn’t moved. We are literally waking up and going to sleep hot and sweating. The room also has ants(in picture) so I spent the first night being bit. The plates at the restaurants aren’t clean and some of the staff are using their bare hands to prepare the food on the buffet line. Something was floating in the drinking water(pictured) also it smells like sewer on different parts of the resort. No face towels No straws(have to put your mouth on the cups) Dingy towels Dirty pool I will NOT stay at another RIU Resort after this experience. This resort should not have a 5 or a 4 star review.

6x Adults from UK - Hidden Gems made our stay.

We stayed for 2 weeks from 14th October to the 28th October from the UK. We have enjoyed our stay with some few hidden gems on the property that made the trip. Special shout out to Smil and Verbin at the Coco Bar by the beach, they were so friendly taught me some Spanish while serving, brought drinks to our table and made sure everyone sitting on the beach had a drink. This bar is very quiet and hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the party pools and busy pool bars and was very relaxing. The staff at the Saona bar during the night time Karaoke were great too, taking your order and delivering the tables. Shout out to Brianna and Elizabeth here as well as Kelvin during the day while sitting around the pool bar here. Kelvin makes the best Chocolate Martinis!! There was plenty of variety with the food on offer, the Nachos at the Mangu buffet at lunch time were very tasty and came with all the trimmings like Guacamole, Cheese Sauce, Chilli Beef, Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Sour Cream. The steaks cooked at the buffet were also very nice and tender, my auntie enjoyed the omelettes made fresh by the staff. The Jerk Chicken by the beach was the best food on the resort, very unique and something we don’t get back home so had this often. The negatives for me was that one of the three rooms our party stayed in didn’t have their mini bar filled every other day like we were told, the nighttime entertainment at the main stage was lacklustre and the dancers were out of time, the speciality restaurants we ate at were nothing special. The best out of the 4 we ate at were the Italian and Asian, the worst was the Spanish and Indian. We ended up sticking to the buffet at Mangu for dinner which started to become tiresome as we’d have to wait for steaks to be cooked, and meat to come out fresh. 4 of us under 30 attended the Jungle Party and this was amazing. We do advise to arrive early by queuing for the bus from around 2:30, so you can get a spot at the bar on the far right as it can get busy. We could always get a drink at this bar. The music was a great variety with some House to start off the party followed by Hip Hop, 2010s EDM and Latino Spanish music. It was really fun and the dancers and entertainers were great here. We love the people in the Dominican Republic so will come back, but may try a different hotel in the future. If you’re a group of adults that aren’t too fussy and are coming for a good time you will enjoy this property. We did enjoy overall as the staff and hidden gems made our stay. We recommend Saona Island, Adventure Boggies with Cenote Swim and Coco Bongs for the best variety of excursions. These were booked with TUI rep.
