Terrific Holiday
The beach was awesome. The food served was delicious. Seafood, variety of fruits, lots of desserts. Plus the service was outstanding. Whenever we had an issue, it was immediately resolved (like the safe not working, getting an umbrella, changing the fridge, maid service, etc.). The only problem was getting from Montego Bay to Negril when we arrived. 5 hours. We arrived at 4 on a Monday evening and caught rush hour. We landed in the hotel at 9 PM. The rood is full of pot holes and our driver was awesome. WOULD NOT DRIVE MYSELF!!!! That was the only drawback.

Management does not care about guests
Julian the resort manager expects there guests to stay in a 80 degree room. This is our 5th night here of 10 nights and our fourth year in a row year. The first four nights our room was 73 degrees and the maintenence guy said there's nothing more he can do. No apology from Julian, no offer to change our room, will not expedite a refund so we can go somewhere else and claimed I was rude and wouldn't even shake my hand. Every year there is always an issue with our room, even the riu in cabo. We are not complainers and are not hard to please. We eat breakfast, sit on the beach all day, eat dinner and go to bed. There is no reason to have issues with your room every trip to a riu. The local workers here are great, that's why we come back but the management just do not care!!

This may well have been our last trip to a RIU and Jamaica!
You will probably conclude from the raft of reviews that INCONSISTENCIES from staff reigns at this hotel. So much so that for us, it may well have been the end of our stays at RIU. Yes, the location, beach, sea is absolutely stunning but when you’re in an all inclusive resort you kind of rely on how the staff are with you. I’ve said this before in a previous review where staff are really selective about how they treat people. We saw for ourselves how staff went out of their way to do their utmost for some guests. When I talk about staff this is mainly in the buffet restaurant. It became such a chore to go in as we never knew whether we would be greeted/treated like others or totally ignored! In the main, we and others, were ignored and when we tried to ask for something we weren’t even really acknowledged! Sometimes service was good but that was usually when RIU did as hoc surveys. What we did enjoy was the specialist restaurants, we used them a lot to avoid the buffet. The staff and food were excellent in each one. There was one brilliant bar man (ONeil) who made the evenings more bearable. Even the taxi service at the hotel was inconsistent. We went for a taxi, they wanted to know what time we needed to return. As we were going out for the evening we couldn’t really firm up a time. The driver said let’s book a time but let me know if you want to change it. We did request to change it and the answer was NO!!! Fortunately we agreed on a time but had to pay extra! I would not recommend this hotel but you will see reviews giving 5 stars. The hotel really needs to do something about buffet staff. It really impacted on our stay and when you save up to go on a nice holiday you do not want people with attitudes left to treat you however they see fit.
