The entire staff was phenomenal. The only one thing I was disappointed with was the gym it was way to small, also might want to change time opened to 6 a.m. for the early risers. Gym way to small. Would consider returning if this was addressed. Also we shouldn't have to we pay for pool tables when this is part of entertainment. We are already paying for an all-inclusive vacation this should be included.

Riu Palace is a great place to stay. Extremely clean. It was on a very nice beach and the food choices were great. It was nice that the restaurants did not require reservations. The pools were very basic, but okay. The location was quite far from Old Town Puerto Vallarta (45 minutes to an hour Uber ride), but it was convenient to get to Sayulita and Bucerias. The resort could use more bathrooms - particularly near the pools and beach. Overall would highly recommend - particularly if you are looking to just stay at the resort.

Didn't want to leave!
This is our second visit to the Riu Palace and definitely not our last. I cannot say enough about the staff at this resort, from check in to check out our stay was nothing short of amazing. We love the location as we are avid walkers, spoiled for choice here. We upgraded to the elite club this trip and I can honestly say it's worth the extra money, we used the cabanas daily, the lounge is a lovely area to relax, a big thank you to Karelli who makes a mean martini. We had a beautiful room on the 7th floor facing the ocean, comfortable king sized bed, fresh towels twice a day. We tried the steakhouse which was very good, always busy and the service was good. The Italian was our favorite, we ate there three times, wonderful food and service. It was nice to see some familiar faces from our last trip in the buffet, thank you Maria and Lucy for your fantastic service, we appreciated it! Our only negative experience would be the smokers on the beach, hard for the resort to control that. So much to do both on the resort and off, plus great food and fantastic staff, we are counting down the days till our next trip!

Just came back from a 6-day girls' trip. For the amount of money we paid, I expected a lot more from this resort. Reading the reviews and seeing pictures, I had high expectations going in. We all had our separate rooms, partial ocean view. We were on the second floor. The view wasn't bad. The bed was comfortable. Average room for a resort. You can hear a lot of the hallway noise from your room. The rooms were a little run-down. For a resort that was just fully renovated, I did not expect to see this. I was not impressed with the food. The food was mediocre, and all tasted the same. Hardly any seafood selection, which I thought was odd. Lots of chair selection during the day. We often came down around 9:30 to the pools and never had an issue with getting a spot with shade. We got a massage on the beach one day. Highly recommend! Not much to do during the day but lie in the sun. Lack of water sports. Also lack of nightly entertainment. We did the white party at Jalisco on Friday. Don't do it. Stayed for maybe 20 minutes, then left. Would I come back? Probably not.

Service and staff excellent
Only negatives are the smokers on the beach, security was arguing with one guy who was vaping at the pool, they then led him to one of 2 spots with the plastic cigarette butt disposers, it's illegal to smoke on the beach in Mexico, but they allow it, and as usual some people would smoke where ever they were seated on the beach, leaving cigarette butts in the sand and ignoring the poor people down wind, how rude!!! They have no umbrellas on the beach,except for elite club section so it's hard to find shade without smokers! The restaurants are good as well as the buffet, Great waking around the resort, 20 minute walk to the start of Bucerias or to Lacomer or even 45 minutes down to the marina also and up and down the beach! Room service was awesome, can"t say enough about the staff always greeting you with a smile, and the cleanliness of the resort is awesome,they are always cleaning 24/7! front desk staff is great, as well as the bar tenders and all the servers in the restaurants, the beach waiters are always hustling back and forth serving everyone! love the resort, smokers not at all!!! Bring lots of pesos to tip the staff as they really deserve it!!!
