Book it Dano!
Riu Palace Kukulkan checked all of the boxes for us! Our partial ocean view room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was efficient. The hotel celebrated its 2nd anniversary while we were there. Everything is new and in good shape. Overall, the food was very good. We ate breakfast and lunch each day in the buffet. There was always something to our liking. Dinner at the buffet was hit or miss especially with maintaining the temperature of the food. It was not consistently hot. Shout out to Saul in the buffet, who always greeted us with a smile and excellent service! We really enjoyed the steakhouse and the Asian restaurants. We did not particularly enjoy the Italian restaurant and the menu at the Fushion restaurant did not appeal to us. One thing that each bar and restaurant had in common was polite, courteous staff with very efficient service. The lounge bar on the first floor was a great place to watch football. The beach was nice. No water shoes necessary. You can walk for miles in each direction. There was always a large selection of loungers available throughout the number of different pools. We did not opt to go with the Elite Club which would have sped up the specialty restaurant reservation process but it did not really matter during our November stay. Each time we went to a specialty restaurant we simply received a table immediately or were given a pager. We would go to the lobby bar and have a cocktail while waiting for the pager to summon us to dinner. The longest wait was 30 minutes, but usually only about 10. We had prompt, efficient transportation service to and from the airport with Destination Services. Tips: 1. Join Riu Class for free which usually gets you a discount and free airport transportation while accumulating loyalty points for future stays. 2. Book the Mera VIP lounge at the airport. While waiting for your flight enjoy a nice lunch inluding cocktails in a comfortable chair. 3. Leave the resort for a dinner out. We took the bus for $1 per person each way to go to Navios restaurant, and amazing restaurant on the lagoon side where you can see salt water crocs in the water. 4. We always tip our servers and wait staff. While a few bucks doesn't make or break us, it certainly makes a difference for this hardworking staff! Enjoy your stay at Riu Palace Kukulkan! You will not be disappointed. RIU Palace Kukulkan has become our 2nd favorite Riu!

Great stay
I stayed at Riu Palace Kukulkan as part of my bachelors long weekend with 6 friends. I found the resort to be clean and well cared for. The staff was friendly. The food options were good, but found the quality to be good (not great). During the day the food options outside the buffet were limited to the grill with basically hot dogs and hamburgers. I found there to be more and better food options at Live Aqua and Xcaret. I realize I'm being a little picky, and for my waste line it's probably better to have fewer options. The beach was awesome and the service on the beach was spectacular. Overall a very good stay. Thanks Riu Palace Kukulcán.

New clean resort
The best part of this hotel is the cleanliness. Housekeeping was great. Changed sheets during stay if needed and our room floor was mopped on the regular. We had partial ocean view which was very roomy. The shower pressure was awesome! Food was to be as expected for all inclusive. Pretty average. Never was pushy with excursions or no upsell when checking in which was a refreshing change. Addy the lobby bar was amazing. We really liked Juan at the pool bar as well. Never had to fight over a spot at the pools or beach. The games at the pool were fun. The entertainment at night was not that great and felt a little cheesy IMO. Service at the specialty restaurants were pretty good but felt it was much better at the buffet surprisingly. Gluten free options were not that great unfortunately. Maybe that will improve? I’d stay again and try the elite side next time.

Great Resort!!
This is not my first time at a RIU, but definitely the best one we have ever stayed at. Great service, great food, clean, and we would definitely go back!! Only downside was the nightly entertainment was just ok. But that would not sway our decision to go back.
