Hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica (All-Inclusive), is located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica on the edge of the beach of Matapalo.
This hotel, fully prepared to provide the best service to its customers, has four swimming pools (one with a wet bar), jacuzzi, gym, sauna and a wellness center "Renova Spa" with different treatments and massages. Everything you need for maximum comfort during your stay.
The quality of the cuisine offered at the different restaurants of the hotel is exceptional thanks to our chefs, who prepare a variety of dishes, from classic to the most exotic. You'll want to to try each of our menus and, thanks to the All Inclusive service, you will be able to enjoy the buffet restaurant or the four different theme restaurants of the hotel.
Being on a privileged environment, the hotel offers a variety of activities on the beautiful beaches such as diving or fishing in the Pacific waters, ecotourism in the volcanic areas, and during the day several programs of entertainment for all ages, whether in family or friends. The hotel has a gym, table tennis, volleyball, tennis court, windsurf, sailing, snorkeling equipment, kayaks and other water activities. If your favorite sport is golf, the Four Seasons Golf Club has fantastic views over the sea.
Guanacaste is less tropical, humid and lush than the rest of the country. Its plains and dry forests sometimes remind you of African savanna landscapes. Inland you can see the savanna, local cowboys on their horses while driving their flocks, which are authentic figures of popular culture of this destination. From the hotel, you can do several excursions, such as the visit of the National Park Rincon de la Vieja, the Safari Park or the capital of Guanacaste: Liberia.

Great overall experience!
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food was from good to very good. The property is beautiful and was big enough to explore over the 4 days we were there. Overall, very good! October was a good time to go because the weather was decent and not as many crowds.
Get a way with friends and family.
Super value, the hotel is kept immaculate. The staff was kind and helpful. Food and drinks were good. Always found something to eat. Weather was beautiful only had rain 2 nights and it never interfered with our trip. The country is beautiful. Our group had a great time.
Can be better
everything was almost perfect but the food, it was terrible. My husband got food poison the las night we were there. Bathrooms are not good for elders almost not even for young people . I have to mention that workers were kind and helpful
Common areas are massive with very clean appearance
The hotel is a bit dated, but it is maintained. Our a/c didn't work initially, but with an e-request, it was taken care of. We had EXCELLENT service from Abigail, at the morning and afternoon buffets. She fixed wonderful iced coffees for us, and she was so delightful in engaging and helping us with our Spanish! Although the dancing in the evening entertainment was impressive, it was a similar show each night with dancing so, not much of a variety...but again, the dancing was professional. We appreciated the Bingo each night and the hospitality of the caller. We also appreciated that the scheduled activities did occur..love the pool aerobics. The food was acceptable, (pastries were tasty :) ) however, only 1 theme restaurant was open each night and sometimes THAT was also a buffet. Drinks were okay and available by going up to the bars. The ladies that provided pool drink service did so more frequently than the gentlemen. We went in October and humidity was extreme, so we stayed at the pool a great deal of the time. TV reception was a problem, but we didn't ask for service since it wasn't that important to us. Gym facilities were good, although the a/c was not turned down low, so long workouts were not possible for us.
This is not a 4 star resort, more like 2 star. Everything is outdated, the workers are not happy here, the food sucks, the TV in the room keeps turning off and on by itself and I got pick pocketed in the lobby bathroom while checking into the resort. When I asked for assistance in getting a police report for insurance purposes the director rolled his eyes at me and crossed his arms. I've traveled to 6 continents and hands down this is the worse hotel I've been to. Riu should be ashamed of themselves for marketing this at a luxury hotel.
