This is not the first time we stayed at a Riu hotel. We really enjoyed our stay, the people, food, resort, etc. The only issue we had that was not a major one is the pool closes too early and opens late. I understand that it is to clean the pool but when you arrive late and leave early you are losing two days using the facilities. We went as a family group of 7 to celebrate my husbands birthday. In the past we have also stayed at the Riu Palace next door. I would definitely recommend Riu Resorts.

Flawless flight with Sunwing, surprisingly numerous delays given past experience. There were many tourists upon arrival and the line was long with no E-PASS but customs waived through hundreds of people. We waited a while for a private transfer, minimal companies waiting outside, and far more Taxis available. Upon arrival, no welcome drink but we did arrive early! Checkin was flawless a huge organized list of all Sunwing passengers. Rooms were not ready until 3:00 pm. we were permitted to take advantage of the buffets and drinks, the wristlets were ribbon and not plastic. We had the 16th floor with a partial view which was perfect and overlooked the Palace Aruba Pros No dinner reservations at the a la cartes you must line up 30 min before posted dinner times The food was amazing, especially supper with themed buffets. Variety from Beef Wellington, huge Shrimp fresh sushi and Caribbean Lobster Housekeeping prompt service, no issues with obtaining more pop, towels and clean bedding AC worked along with the in-room safe and nice large king beds The pools were clean and warm Poolside Bartenders are friendly, and everyone gets served The towel house lady is super smiley and very thorough, you need to know your room number Security is there, not incognito but present standing all day near the Elite Club areas The 24-hour Coffee Bar and baked goodies are a must and a nice touch Designated smoking areas near the entrance and exits Nice, long beautiful beach Cons Loud Music all day and geared to 30's rap, nothing at all for 40-50 year-olds, primarily the majority of guests. Too much of a party atmosphere all day and night Too busy, even for the off-season Very limited shade, no marketplace umbrellas anywhere so you sit with umpteen strangers under a tree Enclosed Dining, not one room has access to a veranda for fresh air or the ability to see the beach and ocean. Getting up at 5:30 am. to grab a palapa on a public beach Zero premium alcohol even in the lobby bar, no doubt Elite Club a new concept will pay for this Overall great value for a 4-star hotel, with a Miami-type vibe and basic hotel elements. The location has RIU nights that are heavily advertised, loud in all partial ocean view rooms on the Palace side until 10:30 pm. It's an adult-only hotel yes but more suited for young adults. I would recommend for 50 years and up select the Palace Aruba next door and sit with young families it is still quieter! The opportunity to visit, & use both RIUs is Bonus

Paradise
Attended a friends 40th birthday, had a great time at the resort with lots to do, our group of 13 was always accommodated at dinner (buffet) for being seated together, If looking for an A La Carte be sure to be ready early otherwise you will have a late dinner. Very close to the main hotel strip 5-10min walk with lots of stores and restaurants if you choose to do that. Try renting a UTV/car and checking out other beaches such as Baby Beach, Eagle Beach, Arashi Beach to name a few. The Natural Bridge was cool to see and a totally different side of Aruba. There is no doubt about “One Happy Island” will not disappoint

Highly Recommended
Wonderful room, food, drink, facilities, activities, staff, and location! My only complaint, the carpets in the hallways to rooms need to be replaced; they stink! Staff was seen spraying deodorizer on them but that did not work; the result was stinky perfume. If not for the carpets, I would have rated a 5, but still highly recommend this location.

GREAT EXPERIENCE
This was a great hotel (service, location, & amenities) and the food was "to die for" especially at the specialty restaurants!
