The property is very nice. The staff on the other hand was either very nice or very rude. It appears that Riu does not train its staff very well. For the most part they were unattentive and rude. The male server at Pepes and a female in the sports bar took rudeness to the ultimate level. The bartender he didn't even hold up his head to ask me what drink l would like despite the bar not being very busy. Think his name was devante/Tevan or something close to that. Kaysha in sports bar is the queen of rudeness. Dwayne in the specialty Restaurant and the girl at the Front Desk made my stay worth it. The variety at the buffet was good. Entertainment a bit lacking. Overall, average stay. Would l go back. Yes.

I had a wonderful time at Riu Ocho Rios. Clean room, beautiful view from the balcony, clean beach, good food, great entertainment and lovely and courteous staffs.

Outdated rooms.
The rooms require modernisation, the look dated. The mahogany wood and old plantation style doors arw outdated. Other than that the rooms were decent. The safe didn't work and on arrival only 1 bed was made for 3 of us, which was quickly rectified on the second night. The restaurant was too busy with long ques for food and many items running out. But food quality was excellent. The lunch was advertised to open fro. 12-17:00, but closed at 1500.

Daughter’s graduation trip!
I highly recommend Hotel RIU Ocho Rios. I’ve been to Jamaica three times and this was definitely my favorite trip! The food was excellent at the resort. The staff was amazing, friendly, professional and welcoming! The activities at the resort were so much fun and the rooms were clean and comfortable! I love that the bathrooms are newly renovated as well!

My Stay I RIU Ochi Rios
The stay was excellent. However, there was one little issue that I would highlight that I hope will not happen again. During my stay, one of the pools had too much bleach in it. The water was burning my eyes to a egree that I found unusual. Then I started smelling what appeared to be bleach in the water. After staying in that pool for a while, we went to our rooms, only to find that our clothes were discoloured all over, having a white look like bleach burn. That is when we confirmed to ourselves that we were really in a lot of bleach. We tried another pool the next day and had no issues. The food was excellent, and everything else was great. That incident did not take away from our trip.
