First Time here
I last stayed in Ocho Rio, which was nice. This experience in Montego was different mostly due to covid restrictions which is nice to imply even during vacation. Michael in the restaurant who was a waiter at multiple counters/tables and even worked private parties was Awesome. Actually the best. The most genuine waiter there who actually cares if you liked what you ordered. Everyone was nice at the hotel. The airport was the only time i encountered rude workers. Upon the room, and the excursions.... it was fun and beautiful. The only complaint was that the weekends are m lockdown so you must be booking a weekday vacation to at least enjoy anything outside of your hotel stay. Again, I haven’t done a review besides on Amazon in years. I just returned back to Texas but all I can think about was how special we were treated by staff in the food area. Taste of the Island was my favorite drink. I would definitely stay here again and if you plan to vacation here.... request for Michael :) His genuine humane acts spoke for itself. We Love Jamaica and will be back
Love this room
Love my stay my room was super clean the food was great the weed was good i was super high. I left the resort to view the town it was super nice the people who came to pick me up was super nice i love my trip
I just returned from RIU Montego Bay. Initially the trip was off to a bad start when my room was not ready upon arrival but no big deal. There is one swim up bar that is always at capacity due to COVID restrictions so whenever you want a refill you have to leave the pool or beach to get a new drink. This is the first RIU I've stayed at where the staff don't come around to make sure your cup is never empty. I've traveled during the pandemic and I still received this service so I don't think it's because of that. The staff here don't even greet you in passing and they never say you're welcome when you thank them for a service. Little things like that matter to me. The lady in charge of registering you for your COVID test to leave is super rude. The food was dull and bland. You can get jerk chicken at the pool grill but the line is always super long. And even though you are required to sanitize a million times you still cannot serve yourself at the main buffet which is fine but the staff is rude they'll turn their head and you'll just be waiting to be served plus with the masks it is difficult for them to hear what you are asking and there are signs to identify what each food is. Entertainment was okay, there are about 5 pools and there was nothing going on at them most of the time. Wendell, Cornell, and Jahmari were the best staff I encountered May try the RIU Palace for a better experience.
Don’t get me wrong it’s decent but not all that,Food was VERY bland, but the breakfast was OK...Drinks were horrible/watered down for sure I didn’t like either or but tried to survive while I was there so I didn’t want to starve or stay thirsty..Entertainment was ok I wanted to go dancing but no clubs were open however the theater was open for shows.Oh I forgot to mention my room spelled like mildew upon arrival and I’m back home now and my whole carry on smells like it ugh.I doubt I’ll come back to this resort...
So. This is a story of how I waited to take a vacation. I decided to return to Jamaica for a little sun, sand, and fun. I was scheduled to depart on Wednesday and return on Saturday. The drama started when my flight was moved from Wednesday to Thursday. OK. Bummer. But, I will still enjoy 2 days and return on Saturday. I will eat the one night loss. Sounds reasonable? Apparently not. I tried to CALL the hotel. The number was out of service. Ummm. That is majorly concerning. I called the customer service line for the resort chain. It was at that point that I began my descent into a Punk'd episode. Me: I am trying to reach this hotel. The # is out of service. Can you patch me through? Resort Chain: My phone does not dial... Me: Umm. That is interesting. Can you please transfer me to a supervisor. Resort Chain: Sure. One moment. Me: Your phone dials your supervisor. Resort Chain: .......... Supervisor: The number you are calling is correct. You need to dial 011 firs....... Me: Ma'am. Respectfully. That's not true from the US to Jamaica. Supervisor: You need to dial 011.... This went on far too long. So I said that her Chain had 3 facilities in Montego Bay. I asked for the # to any of the others. Through that #, I was able to reach the resort. I explained that I needed to move my check.in date. The nice woman stated that it would be no problem. However, she could not do it, I needed to go through reservations. She transferred me back to the Resort Chain main #. They advised that since I booked through a 3rd party, I needed to contact them. The 3rd party rhymes with Wikipedia. Wiki: I cannot get in touch with the hotel. No one is answering. They want us to email. I tried to cancel and apply for a refund for the 1 night, but they rebook, are sold out. I have to escalate. You will receive an answer w/n 24 hours. Me: I am due to travel in less than 24 hours. I kinda need to know now. Many hours spent with Wiki and the Resort later, I learn that the resort will not allow me to move my check in date to commence on a date that was already included in my original booking. AND...they will not offer credit or a refund. In a time of such uncertainty, you would THINK folks would be flexible. Apparently not.
