This is the worse resort I have been in Cancun . I have a family of 6 . I booked two rooms on June 11 ,2021 . I was excited since the resort looks beautiful and has two water park perfect for my family . This are the positive and negative on this resort Positive 1.majority of the employees are friendly with a tip 2.transportation and Covid test are provided 3. The price is affordable compare to other 5 start hotel 4.nice water park Negative 1. Rude managers with customer and employees 2.food not good ( plain , no taste and cheap) we all got sick the manager assured me that no one else has got sick ) 3. Bottle of water only available at the reception 4. No room service 5. Wifi only for 2 people per room 6 . Very cheap and water down alcohol and drinks 7. The show are not good quality 8. I pay for ocean view and they gave me a room with block ocean view . I had to argue with them to give me the rooms that I pay for . 9 . No liquor in the rooms compare to other Riu I has been 10. Bathrooms are very smelly 11. They will be always a customer arguing with the receptionist. It just kills the vacation vibe . 12 . The beach is full of seaweed and they don’t take card of it
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms were great. The beds were not very comfortable but you don't spend lots of time in your room. When you get to the hotel you get your temperature checked and your luggage gets sprayed down. Check in was easy and they set up the covid test. All was easy. I loved I was not hassled for time share presentations. The workers work so hard and your tips mean the world to them. We went every morning to the sports bar for our coffee. Adi and Alejandra are two of the many workers who took good care of us. The rooms were serviced daily. The fridge was done every other day. I had to put in a request daily for water as we drink lots of water, but they were fast and nice. Its all done over the app. The food was food. The steakhouse and Italian restaurants were our favorite. We spent most of our time at the tequila bar. The workers were so nice and worked their butt off for you. I feel like we missed out on things done before covid but the entire world is doing stuff differently. I missed the coffee makers in the room but an easy adjustment to the sports bar. The flaming coffee at the lobby bar in the afternoons is a must. Even if you don't like coffee do it for the presentation. Remember you are on vacation, enjoy it.
Better than expected
After all that's been going on for the last year we were glad to vacation again. We've been going to the Dominican Republic for the last 7years but decided to try Mexico again. Riu Dunimar didn't disappoint. Beautiful , and cleaning was almost an obsession. food was good and drink service around the bars was excellent. Only complaints are while trying to get away from the music played at some of the pools we ended up at the pool at the far right of the property( facing the ocean ). There some of the guests played their own music which was very annoying. That should not be allowed! We had to move, very rude. Also they should have one adults only pool. The towel situation reminds me of a much cheaper resort. Having to use cards and room numbers to get a towel is beneath a nice resort like this.We actually quit going to one resort because of this. Do you really think people on vacation are out to steal your towels? Most folks don't have enough suitcase room for an extra pair of socks let alone a beach towel! Not far for Riu to make it to 5 stars. Quit the 3star things. All said I would probably return.
This resort was beautiful. The food was so good and the pool was extremely warm. I loved the service that the front desk gave me and my friends. The restaurants at night were incredible. And they have free COVID testing.
Very nice hotel, very clean, great rooms, friendly staff, service was excellent. One set of elevators in the front of a very large hotel was a bit ridiculous if your on the 4th floor and ALL activities are at the very back of the hotel??!! Who thought that up? Truly they don’t have enough staff for the amount of guests but the ones they have work their tails off!! Food was not what we were expecting, but if you’re open to the buffet everyday the you will find a few things you like. I will say with as many guests the buffet takes forever to replenish food items if they do it at all. You don’t make reservations for the restaurants but if you’re not lucky to be first in line you need to be prepared to wait 1 hour if not longer. This is the furthest from the airport so be prepared to drive a long road to get here, it takes time (45 mins). If you want to taxi back to hotel zone, shop, eat party, it’s about $50 per person round trip. Family friendly hotel, lots of kids, little to no late night partying. The club is closed and the 24 hour sports bar wasn’t fun at all!! Music was super boring and while the shows were nice, they got old quick!! No dancing anywhere, that was so sad!! The entertainment group while there didn’t do much to pump up the crowd and didn’t include guests to interact with them but again this was more family friendly I guess. Coco Bongo tried to get us to pay $159 each for passes! Um, are you crazy, party life is so much better in DR or Cozumel! So it’s about quality this is your place but for vaca experience, take a pass. I’ll come back to an RIU when I retire!!
