This resort was beautiful. The food was so good and the pool was extremely warm. I loved the service that the front desk gave me and my friends. The restaurants at night were incredible. And they have free COVID testing.
Very nice hotel, very clean, great rooms, friendly staff, service was excellent. One set of elevators in the front of a very large hotel was a bit ridiculous if your on the 4th floor and ALL activities are at the very back of the hotel??!! Who thought that up? Truly they don’t have enough staff for the amount of guests but the ones they have work their tails off!! Food was not what we were expecting, but if you’re open to the buffet everyday the you will find a few things you like. I will say with as many guests the buffet takes forever to replenish food items if they do it at all. You don’t make reservations for the restaurants but if you’re not lucky to be first in line you need to be prepared to wait 1 hour if not longer. This is the furthest from the airport so be prepared to drive a long road to get here, it takes time (45 mins). If you want to taxi back to hotel zone, shop, eat party, it’s about $50 per person round trip. Family friendly hotel, lots of kids, little to no late night partying. The club is closed and the 24 hour sports bar wasn’t fun at all!! Music was super boring and while the shows were nice, they got old quick!! No dancing anywhere, that was so sad!! The entertainment group while there didn’t do much to pump up the crowd and didn’t include guests to interact with them but again this was more family friendly I guess. Coco Bongo tried to get us to pay $159 each for passes! Um, are you crazy, party life is so much better in DR or Cozumel! So it’s about quality this is your place but for vaca experience, take a pass. I’ll come back to an RIU when I retire!!
Bad Service comparing to other RIU
We arrived to celebrate a honeymoon with family and friends and I tried to arrange a surprise for my wife and We just got disapointment in the arrival. We're trying to change our reservation to stay here only one night then go to a better hotel
Food Poisoning ruined the trip
We were so excited to have a family vacation with our kids at mother as soon as summer vacation began. The resort property is great....no major issues with the property. However, on our second night (we were there for 5 nights) all 8 of us dined at the Pompeyo Italian restaurant. Two of our kids woke up at around 4am with vomiting and diarrhea. A few hours later two more family members were hit with the same. Within two days of arriving our vacation was ruined. We heard from numerous other people that were impacted by the same restaurant and evening. I went to the front desk and let them know SOMETHING on their menu (it’s a Buffett and al la carte combo) was spoiled or tainted. I was told they take it very seriously and the manager would investigate it and get back with me. That never happened. What was supposed to be a great family vacation was ruined just two days in with us tending to sick people for the next 48 hrs and half our family afraid to eat or drink the remainder of the vacation. They resorted to dining on saltine crackers, bananas, rice, and rolls once they felt well enough to leave their rooms. We are still waiting to hear from the manager for any sort of apology/resolution.
I have traveled a lot over the years and by far this was my favorite vacation. I don't usually get in a buffet line. However, I was in it daily. The food was amazing. The staff Was great, friendly, happy, willing to help in anyway possible. It is definitely a family resort...meaning...things were very quiet come 11:30. The pools shut down much earlier than expected. For a family resort and dreading dealing with screaming kids..I didn't even notice them half the time. The hotel was very clean. I cannot wait to go back in October. The only complaint is the frosted glass between where you shower and where you sleep. For a family resort, I found that very odd. That glass DOES not hide much to the imagination. Didn't like the lack of privacy when showering.
